Didn't get hot enough to toast

I was super excited to get this product as I have been wanting one this size for a while. When the first one came I got it all set up and in place and turned it on. And waited and waited and waited..... I had it on the highest setting and could still put my hand right under the element :( So back it went and I asked for a replacement because it could have been damaged in shipping or put together wrong or whatever. Got the second one about a week later. Unpacked it, got it in place, turned it on. This one got a bit hotter, but after 10 minutes at the highest setting my bread was still blonde--waaaahhhhh !!! Back to looking for one that will fit in my space and work.
