Scratchy itchy label inside waistline

Great fabric, great fit; good workout & casual panties. But someone explain to me: WHY would Adidas sew a big scratchy itchy label inside back of waist? Had to drag out my sewing kit & use a seam ripper to pull label off, then seam was torn & had to reset seam. Would not buy again for that reason.
