Classic French cuisine meets modern technology with this Electric Dutch Oven. Simply set the programmable LCD screen digital timer and your food cooks on its own, bringing out all those delicious flavors. With 5 different cooking modes not only can you slow cook a tasty bouillabaisse, you can also braise a leg of lamb, or even sauté a mirepoix, right in the Dutch Oven without having to transfer your food to a pan. If you want to go the old-fashioned route, the insert can go on a stovetop or inside the oven for that classic technique. Made from cast iron, it retains heat longer, which is great for those all-day recipes. The cast iron lid retains heat and moisture to maintain the perfect texture and the integrated riveted handles let you take it from countertop to tabletop and use it as its own serving dish. At 5 quarts, it’s big enough to make food for a mini buffet.

All-Clad Stainless & Cast Iron Slow Cooker
The product description is wrong. I want to phase out my slow cooker with the nonstick insert. I don't like nonstick coatings. This appliance sounded perfect -- a cast and enamel insert, no different than my Le Creuset cookware, right? I read the reviews before buying and was a little confused because some people said the pot has a cast iron interior and some said there's a coating to protect the cast iron but it's a matte finish and so it feels unfinished. Then I saw the product description that says it's dishwasher safe and I ordered because if it's dishwasher safe then it must have that enamel finish. It does not. There is no coating in the interior. It is actually cast iron and an enamel coating on the exterior of the pot and lid, not the interior. But the instruction booklet, while it also says that the pot is dishwasher safe, also says that if you don't dry it immediately it will rust. Why? BECAUSE IT'S CAST IRON! And then it explains how to season it. And if an unseasoned cast iron pot shouldn't go in the dishwasher, a seasoned one shouldn't either because the seasoning will flake off AND IT WILL RUST. Returned. I'll be back when All Clad makes a cast insert that is fully coated.

Great all-around slow -cooker AND Dutch Oven!!!
Great that you can brown on the stove and then deglaze and transfer directly to the slow-cooker base w/o losing any of the flavor.

Cast Iron and must be seasoned!
I was slightly disappointed with this as I thought it was enameled covered but the inside of the pot is not. It is cast iron which must be seasoned often. The outside of the pot is enamel covered. Other than that I like the All Clad products.

So disappointed
I was so excited when I ordered this, couldn’t wait for it to arrive and now I just want it gone. I have made several meals in this… or tried to and am very disappointed with the results. Had to throw out a 3 lb. roast that I thought was cooking on the Slow Cooker Low preset for 8 hours. When I lifted the lid it was in a luke warm bath and wasn’t anywhere near safe to eat as I probably had only warmed up the bacteria! Not sure what they expect you to cook in this, 3 lbs is not a large roast…it’s going back!

Expensive but worth it
Love the cast iron insert. Versatile.

Heavy and smaller than my dutch oven
Some pros and cons with this one. For the pros; You can use this on a stovetop or in the oven, try doing that with a crockpot and you will have an explosion in your kitchen! The lid really seals on this pot, it keeps all the moisture inside and made a porkroast to die for. It is nice for potlucks, everything stays warm even if people go back for seconds a few hours later. Cons: So heavy. Like I have to ask my husband or son to move it for me. It is like carrying around a couple of bowling balls. Very difficult to clean, it needs some special scrubbers to really get it back to factory made.

This is a very well-made Dutch oven that is quite useful
This is not a cheap kitchen tool...but it does seem to be significantly less expensive than most other All-Clad kitchenware. The quality is quite evident directly from the box and it delivers upon its promise to be very utilitarian. I was able to make a whole cornish hen with potatoes and carrots in this thing and it was sort of like a set it and forget it meal with a crock pot...but better. Now, this isn't light (no Dutch ovens are because they are made of cast iron) but it is beautiful. You can use it in the oven (your own, regular oven) or you can use it with the base that this came with. I really like the fact I can use it for so much. The only thing that I am not the biggest fan of is how much space it takes on the counter. To help alleviate that, it is beautiful and it feels like it adds something to it. Not a lot of people that I know use a Dutch oven but I've had a lot of questions about this one and even had a convert or two try one for the first time. The bottom line? This is a very well-made tool for the kitchen. There is no shortage of things to make with this and there is no shortage of flavor from this thing, either. It runs way cheaper than All-Clad's usual offerings and I love that. Pros: Easy to use Beautifully made (the Dutch oven and the base that cooks) Great price (some Dutch Ovens run this for just the top part only) Very versatile Able to use in a regular oven or with the base it came with Lots of recipes to use for simple meals Neutral: You have to season this the first time you use it via oil and putting it in your oven (this is more of an FYI) Cons: I am still getting used to cast iron as it is cleaned differently Takes up a good bit of space Overall, this would be an AMAZING wedding gift, I think. It has the quality this brand is usually known for but it is a good value for what you get and it's beautiful
