A nice, hefty faucet, but with a few flaws
I bought this faucet because it seemed appropriately old fashioned looking in our 100-year-old house. I was pleased with it's heft. Most faucets nowadays are made with a fair amount of chrome-covered plastic. Not this one; it's a nice, hefty piece of metal. So what's the problem? A few annoying things. First, the big nut that holds the spout onto the base loosens up through normal use of turning the spout from one side to another. Not realizing it was loosening up, on more than one occasion, while using the faucet, the spout literally fell off, resulting in water shooting straight up from the base and making a mess. It was easy to screw back on, but the second time it happened, unbeknownst to us, the plastic diverter inside the base washed out of the base and went down the drain. The diverter is the part that stops water from coming out of the spout when you use the sprayer. The sprayer still works without the diverter, but you waste water by having water also come out of the spout when you're using the sprayer. American Standard's customer service was good about sending a new diverter at no cost. Once I got it and put it in place, I used threadlock on the spout nut to lock it in place. That solved that problem. The other issue I have is with the O-rings they use on the spout and the faucet handles. I don't know if they're poor quality or what, but they're very "grabby." That makes it hard to turn the spout to the side and hard to turn the faucet on. Okay, maybe not hard, but definitely not smooth and easy like it should be. I solved that problem with the spout by using plumber's grease (a non-toxic food-grade grease) on the O-rings. That helped for a while, but then wore off; but now that I have used threadlock on that spout nut, I don't want to remove it to grease the O-rings again. I'm assuming grabby O-rings are the same problem with the faucet handles, though I haven't taken them apart to check. Suffice to say, on most new faucets, the spout and the handles work easily and smoothly. Not this faucet. Bottom line: I like American Standard's products, but I can't recommend this faucet.

Shoddy manufacturing.
Hot water handle not straight. Plumber said it was manufactured incorrectly. Also, handle switch on sprayer very stiff.
