pH is the measure of acidity of water, on a scale ranging from 0 to 14. A pH of 0 is the most acidic, while a pH of 14 is the most alkaline. Different geographies have different tap water conditions with different pH levels, while fish require a specific pH level to thrive. A pH of 7.0 is ideal when keeping a community aquarium containing a variety of tropical fish. Goldfish and livebearers prefer a pH of 7.5. Many Amazonian fish, like angelfish and neon tetras, prefer a pH of 6.5 to 6.8. Mollies and swordtails thrive at pH 7.2 to 7.5. API pH UP Freshwater Aquarium Water pH Raising Solution raises aquarium pH in freshwater aquariums to desired level. Safe for fish and plants. Use when setting up a new aquarium, adjusting pH, or changing water. pH in an aquarium can fluctuate due to fish waste, uneaten food and addition of tap water. It is recommended to test water for pH weekly. With API Aquarium products, it’s easy to keep a beautiful saltwater, freshwater or reef aquarium. Works, but try to use only in emergencies
This works really well and quickly, it just doesn't last very long which is why I knocked a star off. I have a tank with a large piece of driftwood that tends to drop the pH and in addition to crushed coral, I occasionally have to use the pH UP to keep the levels balanced. It does a good job but only lasts a day before I have to do it again. It works well in emergencies or when I don't have time to change the water that day but need the levels balanced quickly to avoid harm to my fish until the next day when I can do a proper change, but for long-term use this is not the way to go. I would still recommend this to have (as well as pH DOWN) for emergency use, but bouncing the pH drastically is going to do more harm to your fish than letting them adjust to slightly higher or slightly lower levels.

Bottle says it also raises kh.. It DOES Not. My kh is so low the pH now changes every hour or 2
Half works. Raises pH as expected but does NOT raise kh like it says.. (kh levels are required to be high to stop pH changing overtime. Using barcab soda raised pH and kh to correct levels but made tank dirty with millions "dust" particles floating about.. Sadly while this does raise pH the kh is very near 0 so testing it once na hour for a day I got pH readings randomly between 6.1 and 9+ (off the scale) My tap water: Ph: 6.2 (the main cause of the pain) Kh: 21ppm Gh: 17ppm (super super soft water in my area) With this product along with a gh increase product pH: 7.6 Kh: 19ppm Gh: 125ppm To increase the kh to correct level of around 170-180ppm with this product (and no barcab soda or anything else, the pH then goes over 9+! Guess its back to the barcab of soda and murky water then as that's the ONLY way I can get the right balance for the goldfish (which need hard water and pH about 7.5 ish) (barcab soda gives me Ph: 7.3 Kh: 170ppm Gh:125ppm Which is in the requirements but I don't like the fact I'm using barcab of soda to increase kh and ph as it creates millions of "dusty water particles".. Sadly this product dudnt raise kh which the bottle itself has the words "Raises kh"

Will raise the pH but...
..be carful as it raises dramatically if used with sea crystals or other Algae cleaners. This is phosphate- and nitrate-free product and better then other ones with these chemicals. Check pH every hour after and add half of the recommended dose initially. Once opened the bottle the content looses its effect after two months and presumably oxidizes.

Simply does not work
Bought this to correct the pH in my axolotl tank. Following the instructions and using the API test kit, I could detect no change to the pH whatsoever. Instead I used good old fashioned baking soda which I added slowly over a couple of days and it corrected the pH perfectly. Do Not buy pH up - baking soda is a far better and more natural solution.

pH UP
Used this product for a while now. Usually bought from this seller. The pH UP works well in my tank (although it's only 55 litres). Seller delivers quickly. No problems from me.
