Made a HUGE difference
My Koi pond developed an major algae problem with the leaves off the trees for winter. I didn't realize how much algae was in there until I started dosing Algafix. I dosed 4 times, 3 days apart. I cleaned the filter every two days. I also started adding Pond-zyme with truly helped as well. I haven't had crystal clear water since the pond was new. My Koi seem very happy too!

This works as described!

Immediately corrected my issue
All the algae was gone after one treatment and has not returned even a month later.

It does work, from green to clear in a few days.
I have an outside fish tank, and this thing works great although you need to keep using since it doesn't prevent more algae, but it does do a great job clearing up a really green mini pond/ fish tank.

Waste Of Money
Total waste of hard earned money. I had been using a different brand and it was working pretty good. I could not find that same brand since it had been three years since I bought it so I decided to try this brand based on the quantity of purchases and reviews. I ordered ahead so I would have it on hand when I ran out of the other brand. I guess I should have waited because the "return date" ran out on this item before I had a chance to use it. My bad. I cannot vouch for it working in ponds but it DOES NOT work in my bird baths/fountains. To begin with there is no break down as to how much to use in fountains or bird baths. So I contacted the company. They told me 2 drops per gallon of water. So that's what I have been using. In the past I emptied and thoroughly cleaned my bird baths twice a week. I put fresh water in twice a day and cleaned the pump filter at least twice a day....depending on which birds and how many are using it. With this product I have to thoroughly clean them daily and even use bleach and a scratcher to get the green from the bottom, sides and rocks. The attached picture is what they look like after 24 hours of use. I can not tell any difference when I use this product and when I don't use anything. I do not recommend it for bird baths and fountains. You will have to rely on other reviews as to how well it works in ponds.

Algaefix in pond - clear water, happy frogs, no snails
I have a 200-gallon "water feature" (a.k.a. frog pond) in my Chicagoland back yard which in past years, despite vigorous aeration from a waterfall, would only survive about a month before algae took over. In summer 2015 the situation hit a new low with a snail infestation! The snails glommed-on to the pump intake, which slowed the volume through the waterfall to a trickle, which essentially eliminated aeration, which allowed a massive algae bloom to take over. Whattamess! For 2016, I vowed to fix the situation and I did two things differently: 1. I built a home-made milk crate filter and put the pump inside it (described here: [mvwgs dot org]), and, 2. Bought me a jug of Algaefix and used it regularly. Results: After 3 months of operation in hot weather where many ponds in my area are covered-over with algae, my pond water is clear and there is a minimal amount of filamentous algae attached to the rocks. This type of algae is flimsy, stringy, and easily pulled out with a rake if you keep after it. There are 7 frogs happily living in the pond, yet only a dozen or so snails have survived and been removed from the pond this year. Bottom Line: I don't think that the milk crate / lava rock filter would have done the job by itself and I don't think Algaefix would have, either. The combination of the two (with the Algaefix being used at a liberal dosing rate), plus some weekly maintenance (rake out the whispy filamentous algae), has been very effective.

Follow-up: 5 months later, same product (new bottle) -- KILLED MY FISH!
Review update: 4/14/2016 After having good success with this product, I decided to try it again, since the algae is coming back with warmer weather. I re-ordered the same product, used the same amount in the same pond, with the same fish. Two days later, all my fish are dead! Fortunately, they're not expensive koi, but these are some hardy goldfish that have survived two winter freezes and dozens of scavenging birds. I don't know if the product has changed since the last time I purchased it, but I'll never buy this stuff again. -------------------------- Original review from November, 2015: Product reviewed:API Pondcare Algaefix Algae Control, 8-Ounce This stuff works like a charm! I've never had any algae issues with my goldfish pond in the past 3 years. But, for some reason, this year was particularly bad. I'd been dealing with algae for the past 4 or 5 months -- tried scrubbing out my pump filters, several commercial products, changes in aeration, straw bales, etc. I bought a small bottle of this product just to see if it would clear up my pond at all, and not wanting to invest too much money in something that might not work. Day 1 - I poured half the bottle in, guestimating how much I would need based on the bottle's instructions. Repeated the dose after 3 days per the instructions. At that point, I was out of the product and didn't notice any change in the pool. Days 4, 5, 6 went on with just a small reduction in algae. I figured this was the best I could hope for and resigned myself to a green pond. Somewhere around day 7 or 8, without adding any more product, my pond turned crystal clear (see photo). I'm very happy with the results, especially after wrangling with this pond for so long. A couple of weeks later -- my fish are just fine, and no recurrence of algae. This stuff is a winner.

Clear water
I had a lot of algae at the top, it was super murky and nasty looking. And now I can actually see the fish and down the bottom
