Simple, fun, creative sensory fun for toddlers

I got this for my 3 year old daughter and she loves it! It’s such a simple way to give her some hands-on creative sensory play. It includes a plastic storage bin, craft sand, figurines, two digging tools, and a guide booklet. The sand is really nice. I wasn’t expecting it to feel so soft and malleable. It’s not as messy as normal beach sand is because it’s almost got a wet sand texture. She loves to bury/dig and play all the animals and farm figurines that are included in the kit and we also incorporated some of her other small toys we already had at home, including her seashell collection. I really liked that the kit included a small sensory play guide to help parents learn about what sensory play means and why it’s important for toddlers development. It’s such a simple activity that promotes such valuable motor skills and development for this age group and it provides a large number of ways to play, imagine, create, and learn while doing so. As a stay at home mom I am always looking for simple and fun ideas to entertain and/or teach my toddler and this sensory kit is definitely a high quality product and well worth the $20 (the price listed at time of this review). I definitely recommend this to all parents/child caregivers with toddlers.

Flimsy bin broke easily

This kit comes with sand, little farm animal figures and a plastic bin. The kinetic sand was fun. The toys ok (very cheap) but the plastic bin was the biggets disappointment. Within one use the bin cracked at the corner and became a sharp hazard, in addition to not being useful in holding the sand in. I had to find another Tupperware and throw the bin away. Definitely makes sense to find a bin that is wider and flatter allowing better play time, vs just a carrying case. Other than that, the sand was a lot of fun…a little more yellow in color than the photo. It packs and melts like kinetic sand and is a great sensory playtime. The toy farm animals are for hiding and finding in the sand… I wasn’t sure why these animals weren’t sea creatures but I guess learning about farm animals resonates easily with kids too.

The bin arrived completely broken but the sand and animals are very engaging.

Unfortunately the bin arrived completely smashed and broken, but we transferred the sand and farm animals to a large tuppeware for play. Our 18 month old loved this, and it kept her engaged for nearly an hour. The set comes with a scoop and a shovel, so burying the animals and having her dig them back up again was her very favorite. My older kids loved the sensory play as well, and made kinetic sand towers with the scoop. Highly recommend this to keep your toddler busy! The only downside is the potential mess, so make sure you're playing on butcher paper or outside. I recommend this for any moms looking for gift ideas for their 18 mo-3 year old. Kids love this

This sand is always fun to play in. I love it, the kids love it- it's just a win all over. I will say that the sand looks a lot more yellow colored than it does in the picture. It isn't really the normal sand color, but it is still fun. It packs and melts, just like you would expect kinetic sand to. I love that it comes with a storage container! However, I do think the lid feels a little flimsy, so I hope we can keep it in one piece. Also, if I were designing the container for it, I think I would go a little wider and less deep just to make it easier for young children to play in. The farm animals that come with it are cute too. They are fun to hide in the sand and just to play with in general. I also really like the set of informational cards it came with. I thought they were so well done that I couldn't just throw them away. I am going to donate them to my friend at a children's therapy clinic. While they were very well done, there were a few mistakes on them. Some of the cards had the wrong answer on the back, but can you really complain about something that is just a nice extra? Still, I really liked to see this company spreading awareness of why different types of play is so important for children.

Good set nothing amazing

We had dedicated our Saturday morning to playing with this sense & grow activity set. It was an entertaining activity though I do have a few thoughts: - some of the figurines are way too small. My toddler is 3.5 and she still puts a lot of things to her mouth. While that’s not a problem of the toy maker, it is an issue in this case because the figurines are tiny and can be risky to be swallowed. Even if that doesn’t happen, then it is simple easy to lose. For example, the dog figure. - we had a previously sand based activity toy and the quality there was better. The sand was higher quality than that of this one. Overall great product, just some concerns mentioned above.

Enjoyable

They really like this play sand. It was a lot of fun for them. It really feels so nice. It is nice when they cannot go to the beach so easily. It is nice that it came with so much else. They were able to use them to play with it. It really kept them busy for a long time. They can be creative with it. It seemed to be good quality. You do want to make sure it stays together because if you are not careful it can get everywhere. I think it would make a nice gift. I liked it and would recommend it.

It is Ok but…

This is my review for Sense and Grow, Sensory Sand. So I got two special need kids with sensory issues. I have been buying Kinetic Sand for them for a long time. I got this one to try something different. What I liked: - It sticks well. As a result, it is very manageable. - It has that sand feel. - It has a lot of stuff in addition to the sand. What I disliked: - The color looks faker than it should. - The smell, while it isn’t pungent, it is worse than the kinetic sand. - The plastic toys are an afterthought. Other thoughts: It is an ok replacement for kinetic sand, but given the price, I would still go for the original, as you can get it for roughly the same. Thus, I would still consider this one but only if on steep sale.
