Made in France from a single piece of the finest olive wood, this handcrafted spatula offers original beauty (no two are identical) and exceptional convenience in the kitchen. The gently curved spatula provides a long handle and a rectangular-shaped head that works well for flipping pancakes, slipping under food, and transporting food to a plate or serving platter. The use of wood not only brings the beauty of nature indoors, but it has also been found to be more hygienic than plastic. Furthermore, out of respect for the environment, the particular olive wood used by Berard comes from sustainably managed forests, so the spatula can be enjoyed for years to come and with peace of mind. The unit features a lovely satin finish, made up of a combination of mineral oil and beeswax, which protects the wood and offers added strength and resilience. Safe to use with all cookware, the spatula measures approximately 12-1/2 by 2-4/5 by 1/5 inches and should be hand washed only and dried thoroughly. Really got me out of trouble!
I had to quickly find this after I accidently broke our 20 year old wood spatula. After being told it could not be replaced I searched until I found this spatula that looked the most similar to the old one. With a hope and a prayer I purchased it looking forward to being able to sleep inside again with 2 day delivery. When it came in I was surprised at how nice it really was. It is a great size and shape. It has a very nice slim edge on the front that works very well. it is also very pretty and seems to be plenty sturdy. After a few days I have been told that this one is actually nicer then the old one and I am out of the dog house. I am tempted to go ahead and purchase another one to set aside for 20 years in case the new perfect spatula breaks.

Nice Quality Wooden Spoon
I had already owned a Berard spatula which I liked very much. So, I purchased this new one which is slightly larger. Perhaps, they are a little expensive, but very good quality.

Perfect for Instant Pot
I've been using my spatula for over 3 years. Bought it for deglazing the instant pot, but turns out I use it for all kinds of cooking, flipping, scraping, & stirring. No chipping, warping, or breakage. I wash it by hand & try to oil it up every so often like you would for a cutting board. Really no fuss, altho it shouldn't go into the dishwasher. I love that it functions like a metal spatula but is kind to your pans, whatever they're made of. Just bought 2 more for our grown kids who have their own IP's now.

Order left or right handed
I have switched to cast iron cooking with all well seasoned and never have a sticking problem. Do Not ever use a metal spatula on cast iron. This is the best wooden spatula I have ever had. I will be ordering more. The olive wood is very hard. I believe if you keep it out of the dish washer it will last a life time.

Really handy kitchen utensil
I bought this as a gift - I already own one and absolutely love it! It has just the right curve to the end that makes it easy to scrape around the base of a pan, it flips food easily too. A really nice piece that feels nice and comfortable to use. I don't put mine in the dishwasher as I think that would dry out the wood and cause it to split possibly. I hand wash mine and every now and then will rub with a little oil if it needs it - but not often. It's an addition to my utensils that I would not be without now.

different than my old one
didn't read the description before making the purchase. I was expecting the exact same dimension from the old one I got 10+ years ago at sur la table. I will give the new one a try.

French Chef Hubby Loves This
About 15 years ago, my mom gave me an olive wood spatula, and I loved it and used it all the time. Since then, I met the guy of my dreams (guy here, too... love is love... move along), he became a chef and still the wood spatula retained it's spot in our kitchen. Whether it's in a company's best interest to make a spatula that lasts 15 years is, I suppose, debatable, but mine finally cracked apart in the middle of the lemon shallot sauce for some halibut en croute. We gave it an honorable burial--like you do--and this beauty is the replacement. Just love it! Couldn't be happier with its smoothness and strength. The balance in your hand is great, and it's not made China, the home of cheap American corporate wickedness. The price couldn't be better, either. Highly recommended.
