Works well most of the time.
I use this as a vacuum/mulcher most of the time. There's a small tab on the vacuum attachment that has to fit into a small slot on the motor housing to push a button. It's a safety thing so some kid doesn't turn it on a stick their arm in the blade. Getting that lined up right is rather frustrating. Then once lined up and working, bumping the end of the attachment will cause it to come out. Which shuts off the motor. Then I have to take the attachment off and fight with it till I get it lined up again. It makes every project take twice as long. I'm about to jab something in that home and glue it in so it's always held down. There has to be a better design. Other than that, it works great and has plenty of power.

The channel enclosure is a great improvement for emptying the bag.
Works well once the inner portion of the collection bag is trimmed back to one inch from the flange. The inlet of the bag snarled the loose excess bag ends in complete knots and blocked the bag after less than 5 bags of leaves. (Other buyers mentioned the same problem). The slip on bag channel works much better than the previous design that used a zipper to empty the bag.

Great value for the money.
I purchased this only for the vacuum. I read many reviews on leaf vacuums before making this purchase. Really didn't want to mess with a cord but from the reviews on many brands, I decided a corded vacuum had much better suction. Have always liked the Black & Decker brand. I'm very pleased with it. It vacuums even wet leaves. The only times it got clogged was when medium size twigs were mixed in with leaves.

Fits the bill
I needed a system to vacuum up the leaves and shoot the leaves into my truck. I attached the 8th hose and mounted the other end to my truck where I have a large tarp to catch the leaves and a mesh net on top to keep the leaves contained and it cuts leaf connection time in half. As a blower it is not as powerful as I would like.

Great suction
Got it to clean up leaves from flower beds. Suction is great, large leaves don't clog up the vacuum, and the small mulch wood chips go right through. I had no problem opening and closing the bag.

Blow suck mulch!!
Overall good product.. leaf bag is small and hard to open (that makes it time consuming) But it definitely do what it’s say!!

Shocked and awed
I replaced my expensive gas vac/shredder. I was skeptical buying an electric blower at a fraction of the cost of a gas one. I was literally blown away. I could not believe the power this thing has. The best thing is I can suck up almost anything and it won't clog or get a little piece of mulch stuck like my gas one did. 2 thumbs up!

Thorough Review Read First
The media could not be loaded. This is an updated review. As a blower it has plenty of power even to blow a large pile of wet leaves. Only problem is the leaf blaster only worked one time? Don’t understand that because it doesn’t have any mechanical parts and works just by the forced air. Unlocking the tab made no difference. But the one time it did work was very effective. Now the bad news. The reusable collection bag is not good quality due to the sewing and material. The strap threads came apart so had to wrap the loosened strap around my hand. And then it developed a hole at the other seem. When you dump the leaves, the material causes the leaves to cling to it although it’s easy to dump it with the slide-able retaining bar. They really should have used a different material and stitch. Lastly, even though the metal impeller is better than plastic it was prone to becoming jammed with leave residue and had to use a screwdriver several times to unclog it. I will say that attachable rake that came with it is great for raking out leaves from the bushes and was a pleasant surprise since there was no mention of it or the leaf blaster in the description. In addition it is quite awkward to change from blower to mulcher since it’s tough to balance it on a surface to do so. Just received it and decided to try it out even though the leaves just started to fall. If you are short you’d probably have trouble with the length of the shoulder strap even if you adjusted it all the way. I am tall so it wasn’t an issue for me. It also would be too heavy to use a long time without a strap if you aren’t at least reasonably strong. You do need to insert a screwdriver into the notch to detach cover to switch between blower and mulcher so not very convenient but does come apart fairly easy by pushing down. My biggest issue is that when I went to dump the leaves out of the bag, the inside part of the bag that attaches to the mulcher did not have the material trimmed away and the strings from that material tangled with the leaves and the pictures and video show that. I had to get pinking shears to cut away all the excess material. So before using look inside the leaf bag and make sure this is done. I did like the mini rake that can be attached to the mulching tube as a nice little add on. I didn’t even know it came with one. I also like the speed dial which allows you to adjust the amount of power.

Only wanted it as a mulcher for leaves in the fall, was well worth it
I already have a good battery powered leaf blower, but after making a huge pile of leaves it was no fun bagging them up and hauling them to my front yard for collection. We have so many trees that just leaving them as is will kill the grass in the spring, so after some research I decided to try this as a way to mulch the leaves. Worked really well, you have to go fairly slow or it'll plug a bit, but even on a cold Fall day with semi-wet leaves it was able to work through a few big piles in way less time than it took to bag them, and much easier also. The bag fills up fast when you are doing a large amount, but even just considering the time and effort it saved last year it was a good purchase for those who have a ton of leaves and struggle to keep up with bagging them (we had already did 20 full bags before I broke down and bought this, it would have been 30 more but they got mulched instead).

BLACK AND DECKER LEAF VACUUM AND BLOWER TOTAL REGRETS, I WILL HAVE TO REMODEL THE REUSEABLE BAG
THE REUSEABLE BAG, WHEN I USED IT AND WENT TO DUMP IT, THE LEAVES WOULDN'T COME OUT !!!! I HAD TO TURN THE BAG INSIDE OUT TO FIND THAT THE LEAVES WERE ALL TANGLED IN STRANDS OF NYLON LEFT BY A TOTALLY UNFINISHED MANUFACTURING. THE EXCESS MATERIAL LEFT HANGING INSIDE THE BAG WAS PARTLY SHREDDED LEAVING A MESS OF TANGLED STRANDS OF NYLON ALL TANGLED WITHE LEAVES. I HAD TO USE A PAIR OF SISSORS TO CUT OFF YHE STRANDS OF NYLON AND LEAVES IMPOSSIBLE TO UNTANGLE, USELESS FOR THE COMPOST, PART OF THE REASON I PURCHASED THE MACHINE.NOW I HAVE TO WRAP THE EXCESS MATERIAL BACK OVER THE PIPE AND USE A NEW WIRE TIE TO RESTRAIN IT AND CUT OFF ALL THE EXCESS MATERIAL IF YOU BUY THIS MACHINE , YOU WILL HAVE A JOB ON YOUR HANDS . TOTALLY PISSED OFF !!!!!!!!!! CHARLES RANDELL

Works like it should
Bought this as I have more than a few acres, largely trees. I only need to clean up several hundred sq ft as the rest are conifers. I use the mulch back into my raised beds. And it does all I need. Suction is good enough to pull up wet or dry. Points to remember before you buy or use. It's a bit unwieldy so it takes a bit of manipulating. Dry leaves are far better than wet as they mulch smaller and are less likely to trap pebbles. If you stir up wet leaves with your foot while using it works well to shake out any small stones. On a lower setting the unit does not pull rocks. I use it on my gravel driveway and don't have a problem. If the leaves are wet the stones tend to stick in the mix. Since damage from stones was my biggest concern in buying this, I tend to focus on it here. As a test, I can vacuum up dry leaves on the deck but it wouldn't pull up a 1/2" cherry tomatoe. Just leaves. Perfect. If you are trying to vacuum up tomatoes, not great I guess.

It Really Sucks
With everything rated 4 stars you'd think I was just being lazy, but thats not the case. I bought this product over others because of its good ratings, metal impeller and brand recognition, although B&D sometimes isn't the best bang for the buck. I also bought it to vacuum up leaves rather than just blow them around. Blowing them around doesn't make them go away. The motor is variable speed. Perhaps its of value in blowing, but as a vacuum I run it full speed anyway. The unit assembles without tools and it can be modified or reconfigured without tools. The collection bag is big enough but not too big to be too heavy. I've yet to have it jam, so I know it will chew up small branches. I'm of average height and I think I'd want the vacuum tube maybe 3" longer. As it is, its OK to use but its use does affect your posture. Connecting your extension cord to it can be frustrating. There is a "sweet spot" where it connects just fine. This is not unique to this unit, but I've fiddled with it for over 5 minutes to make a connection. In action, it slurps up leaves pretty good and the collection bag is easy to unload. I don't know how it works on wet leaves. Thats something I think I'd avoid doing anyway. Seems to me a good way to trash the collection bag through mold. As a lawn vacuum it works well - it will slurp up leaves without the tube directly on them. Suction power is good. Indications are its a cost effective unit for what I need it to do. Being a B&D I assume parts are not an issue for years to come. Yeah.... I'm happy with what it does and how it does it.

Very poor workmanship - steer clear
It is a shame that extremely poor workmanship on the sewing of the collector bag has ruined the performance of this product. It has plenty of power but during the first use I discovered leaves all tangled around the unfinished black material at the top entrance to the black bag. Next, the bag started to pull away from the plastic collar. Had to fix that with my own zip ties. Before the end of the first use, ( filled and emptied bag maybe 8 times), the stitching on the bottom of the bag where the channel slides on to close the bag, is all coming loose. I can’t use the darned thing anymore till I take a needle and thread and mend this part too. If you aren’t a handyman & just wanna clean up your yard, stay 29 miles away from this product.
