Brand:BOSCH

3.3/5

The Bosch GWS13-50TG tuck pointer package features a 5 In. angle grinder and a dust guard designed specifically for tuck-pointing. The Bosch GWS13-50 5-In. angle grinder delivers more power than previous-generation models with the same size tool – 13 amps and 11,500 rpm. It has directed air flow that diverts dust away from vital components, and it has direct-motor cooling, giving it higher overload capabilities. It sports a two-position Vibration Control side handle and a constant electronics motor for easy starts. The TG502 tuck-pointing dust guard allows tool less installation, making it quick and easy to install and remove. The variable depth adjustment allows the guard to collect dust throughout the duration of the cut, and the large viewing window makes it easy to see the line of cut. The grinder and dust guard are part of Bosch PRO+GUARD dust solutions, an end-to-end dust-collection system that helps users move toward OSHA Silica Table 1 compliance.

DURABILITY: Featuring carbon brushes to provide more durability than previous-generation brushes. The GWS13-50TG also comes complete with Bosch Service Minder brushes to let the user know when preventative maintenance is required. DUST GUARD: The GWS13-50TG comes complete with a tuck-pointing dust guard designed specifically for tuck-pointing applications and allows tool less installation. The direct air flow diverts dust away from vital components of the grinder. POWER: Featuring a powerful 13-amp grinder motor, the GWS13-50TG angle grinder is able to produce up to 11,500 RPM. Along with that, the direct-motor cooling allows for higher overload capabilities. TUCK-POINTING: The Bosch GWS13-50TG angle grinder and tuck-pointing dust guard package delivers all-in-one tuck-pointing solution that can help user move toward compliance with the OSHA silica dust regulation.

Works well, but recommend only for larger jobs.
Worked great. I tried a tucking bar to remove old mortar between cinderblocks, and it barely scratched it. This tool, outfitted with a sandwich blade, chewed right through the motor. I'd estimate it can go the length of a cinderblock (16") in less than five seconds. The depth is adjustable; I was cutting to about 3/4" deep. I spent a lot of time looking at ads trying to figure out if the tool comes with a blade. It doesn't, and the manufacturer has gone to some length, in my opinion, to not say so in the literature. Be aware that this thing throws out an enormous amount of dust and sand-like particles. I bought the special hose to connect it to a shop vac with a paper filter, and it was clogged up after a minute or so. Outside, no vac is required, but care should be taken not to blow the debris directly at your face or at another person. I wore a full-face shield with respirator, and recommend this. My hair got terribly matted with the dust, but my eyes and nostrils were not affected. I first tried to use a 4.5" grinder, and it worked ok. This tool is much more efficient, though. If you have a very small amount of tucking to do, then go ahead and use a 4.5" grinder, like the Harbor Freight model. You won't be able to attach a hose to it, so some deep cleaning will be necessary after doing work inside.

Sort of works...
I recently used a Bosch surface grinder with a dustless attachment and I was blown away by how well it collected the dust. I immediately ran to Amazon to get a dustless tuckpoint grinder too, thinking this technology was really going to change my gritty, dirty life! Unfortunately, although the surface grinder was a home run, this tool is kind of a bunt . It probably gets 60 or 70% of the dust, but 30% of the dust from grinding out mortar is still an awful lot of dust. Also, it is pretty awkward to use as you can only hold the grinder in 1 position to get full depth grinding, and the hose comes off at a weird angle. Although the depth is adjustable, the angle at which you enter is not, as the whole apparatus is pinned in place by the side handle. I'll probably keep using it, but after the first 2 jobs I'm not terribly impressed. In Bosh's defense, it's a difficult problem to tackle.

Heavy and hard to use
I was hoping I was getting a quality grinder. Not only did I have to find a spacer because the blades don't fit in the dust catcher, but I have had the motor stop turning while doing simple grinding of mortar joints. Sad. I spent alot of money on this new setup. Also trying to grind things to the left you can't get withing 5-6 inches because all the knobs and things.

cool but needs more power and blade
The cover does a great job of dust collecting. The down side are it does not come with any blade and the power seemed low when I was cutting to demo tile on backer board. ALso would be nice to be able to bring the blade lower with the dust collector on. it can only cut in 1.5in with the cover on.

Powerfull
Heavy, a monster, eats mortar and did the job as designed, saved a lot of manual labor. If you need to do tuckpointing, this is the complete tool for you, worth every penny.

Repointing stairs was really easy
I needed to replace some mortar on my front stairs. As expected hammer & chisel is a lot of work and takes forever. With this grinder it was almost too easy. The only issue is that you cannot get close to the walls as the vacuum attachment is quite bulky.
