Use this in a semi-commercial application and this thing has cut thousands of feet of linear cut and held up as well as could be expected. Will buy again. Exactly as expected.

Great Bit
This is a great bit, they are as described: solid carbide, they come with a protective coating, they hold their edge in hard woods. I use it to enlarge pickup cavities on guitars. The down cut spiral works great for this as it is less prone to damage the finish compared to straight cut and especially up cut spiral which would pull up on the finish and likely cause damage. The 1/4 diameter is great for pickups with a smaller corner radius. The 1" cut depth is more than enough for my needs, but the .75 cut depth of modelBosch 85902M Solid Carbide 1/4-Inch x 3/4-Inch Down Spiral Double Flute 1/4-Inch Shank Router Bit is not enough.

Accurate description
This is truly solid carbide. It is downward spiral which means it pushes wood dust away from the router/bit, so if you don't have a vacuum system this is a great choice. It is truly 1" cut depth. And fits a 1/4" collet. I hope that helps clarify the ambiguous description. It is coated in a glue so it doesn't rust or chip during shipping. Solid carbide is brittle so if it drops on cement it can chip, but it stays sharp longer. If you have precision tools you can resharpen these. I will be using it to do cutouts in 3/4" oak and plywood. Hope that helps.

Best Cutter
Purchased for Makita RT0701CX7. It works great with this pluge router saw. In addition, I used the circle jig 320 along with the this bit.

Very brittle broke on first use
Im normally very happy with Bosch products. But this turned out to be a dud. I tried to cut a through slot through 16mm ply in one pass approaching from the edge and ended up breaking the bit on first contact. Never seen that happen. I finally managed to do it with a straight edge bit with no problem.

Very sharp. Made only two test cut on MDF but no chatter on upper surface due to the down cut effect.
