heats 2 honest quarts of water, good for 6 months
After using for about a year with regular cleanings our unit began to make smelly water. We used britta filtered water and it tastes fine directly or heated in a pan. But the Brentwood kettle gives the water an odor that makes it unusable for any purpose. We use ours mostly for tea. Boiling with vinegar helped a bit but the odor continued so we stopped using. It was a great kettle for about 6 months I got this because it heats 2 liters of water. Most only do 1.7 (even the Hamilton Beach 40870 which claims to be 10 cups clearly has a max of 1.7 liters printed on the side (this is where the honest bit applies)). Brentwood is truly 2 liters. I use mine to heat water to make tea. I have several 2 quart containers. With my old 1.7 heater I'd have to heat the water twice to make 2 quarts of tea. Now I only have to heat the water once. It's fantastic. Things i don't like: - It's wobbly - it has a funky base with a large mount on one side that's hard to mount (most heaters have small round mounts and in the center, very easy to mount unit). - the coils on the inside are exposed so it's harder to clean then units with a flat heating surface in side. - to top does not have a release button. It's just a hard to do clip which requires both hands to open That being said, it does 2 quarts and i'll live with the other stuff to get that.

Love this product
I love this product. It’s handy, perfect size, does it’s job great. When i was reading comments about this before buying, i saw skme bad reviews too, but they all are rubbish and if you’re using this as it requires, this is a really great piece. Worth for the price and in good quality.

Works fast, but... sometimes shuts off way early!
When it works, its good. But... after about a month, it developed a bad habit of shutting off very quickly after start, long before the water boiled! I have to restart it (push red switch back down after it pops up) to get it to boil.

Hot Water Fast
Love my electric kettle. Heats water quickly to a boil, doesn't take up a lot of space, cost efficient and easy to clean. Glad I purchased this kettle. Making tea and hot toddies are tasty and made fast with this kettle.
