Starter cord

This starter cord from Briggs & Stratton is the right thing to get. Naturally, the size is in milimeters instead of inches (metric instead of SAE) this review is on the size 4.5 (4.5mm) This is an excellent across the board size of pull starter cord for engines of 4 HP all the way up to about 15 HP. The larger engines usually come with the size 5.5 (5.5mm) but this cord is superior to most store bought cords. This cord is reinforced. If you tend to get the $5.00 package at your local hardware store that comes with a new handle, this is a superior product to that and it's a lot less expensive. This spool will replace at least 35 applications all for about 65 cents each. DO NOT JUDGE THE SIZE OF THE CORD BASED ON THE INCLUDED PICTURE. 4.5mm is slightly smaller than 3/16" whereas the 5.5mm is similar to 1/4" But this product is a steal here at Amazon

This is all I use for starter rope now

Great rope! My local repair shop turned me on to using this stuff. I got tired of paying them $1 a foot so, now I have enough for the rest of my life. You would probably use this size (4.5) on up to 7hp motors. You could use it for a little larger engines but, may not last as long. The smaller diameter of this rope allows you to have a greater rope length on the same size pulley - handy for mowers with handle-mounted starters. You never want to run out of rope length while your arm has momentum. Lasts longer than the standard white rope you find on mowers.

Only had 200 feet

The cord was exactly what I wanted except when it arrived it was only a 200ft roll. It wasn't that some had been removed from the roll, it clearly stated that it contained 200ft.
