Was easy to change stock voltage of 110v to 220v.
see headline above. Use this unit to replace a unit that went bad after 30 years in my master bath which is very well insulated. Unit seems to put out much more heat then old unit and is quite. Heats large bathroom nicely and took less then an hour to install. My only complaint was that advertisement for this unit seemed to show two different conflicting physical dimensions and it was not clear to me if the factory wiring was for 110v or 220v.

Be sure you understand the thermostat in this unit
I have had a model 174 in my bath for 25 years and it has worked flawlessly. The only reason why I replaced it was because the faceplate started to rust around the finned area where the hot air comes out. I could not find just the faceplate so I bought the entire unit. As other reviewers have noted, the unit has a thermostat which cycles on and off with long pauses in the off mode. My old one stayed on without stopping no matter how hot the bath got - not sure why. You can read other reviewers explanations for why this happens with the new units. I feel having a thermostat on a wall heater is a bad idea either way. You can inadvertently walk away from the heater when it is dialed to the highest setting, but currently in the thermostat's off mode. It will soon cycle back on. Imaging leaving your house - perhaps for days or weeks - and this unit is still turned on! I currently have a spring-loaded timer on order with Amazon which I will install in place of the thermostat. My hope is that Broan/Newtone people read these reviews and consider a manufacturing fix for future models. In my opinion, that would be to simply replace the thermostat with a spring-loaded timer

Looks great, easy install, works fine in 40 square foot bathroom; Beware of half power instructions
I like the ease of installation, and the simple look of just a flat plate on the wall with hot air coming out of it. It's quiet and unobtrusive and doesn't smell. Some complained that the built-in thermostat didn't work right, but mine works fine. It might be what size the room is, or the particular installation. The bathroom I'm using this in is only about 40 square feet, and I mounted it a couple feet above the floor. I see it mounted near the ceiling in some folks' photos. I'd suggest mounting it no more than 3 feet above the floor. Otherwise you have to crank up the built-in thermostat to get it warm near the floor, and the unit could be on constantly and could even overheat. The instructions say that to use at half power, disconnect one of the two connectors with black wires going to the fan. It sounds like you can disconnect either one. You can't. One connector has TWO black wires going to it, and one of those is for the fan motor. You never want to disconnect the fan motor. So disconnect the other connector, with ONE black wire going to it. I wonder if some of the failed units were because the heating element burned out since the fan wasn't blowing any air over it. All in all, I'm very satisfied with it. I'll post back if I have any reliability problems.

ok for the price....
*** update *** With dial turned all the way, the bathroom was left for approx. 20 minutes to heat up before a shower. the room got warm but not overly so. I then did same test putting the old unit back in and had dial on full for approx 20 minutes. The room was noticeably warmer with the old unit. The new unit seems hotter when the dial is initially turned on, but it apparently shuts off sooner than our old one so thermostat must be at a different limit than our old one. Maybe there is some variance among individual units which could be quality control thing. I am returning and staying with our old unit for now. We already had identical model installed. Our old heater still works but was getting a little tired. The new unit seems to have a little stronger fan and appears to get hotter. I compared the old vs the new by holding a thermometer up as they were running. The old unit read 188 degrees F and the new unit gave an error code I think from getting too hot for the thermometer to register. I was able to use the same housing and just swap out the heater/fan assembly. It is recommended for new construction but can be done in existing (I just cut out a little extra piece of drywall to get the housing installed and attached via screw(s) to a wall stud. Then I simply reinstalled the drywall piece with a couple screws. The heater works great. My only minor complaint is the heating element is on the left side so heat mostly comes out the left side and not the whole grill evenly. Still it is a great heater for a small bathroom.

Nice attractive heater
Very nice little heater. This was a perfect choice for my two chilly bathrooms. I ordered two of these and have only installed one as of yet. I will install the other as I finish my renovations in the upstairs bathroom. So far the basement bathroom is staying nice and warm with this little guy on low. Installation was easy but I did not use the wimpy bracket that comes with it. It looks sleek and it right next to the cabinets. I was worried it would blow hot air on the new paint but it actually is very directional and only blows the heat forward and down. Very nice! It is not a quiet heater so be aware it may not be a good choice for a bedroom but perfect for an entry or hall heater. It is perfect next to the shower. Great to come out and not be freezing. Would recommend this product.

Good Supplemental Heating
This product replaced an older (25+ years) heater of the same Make & Model. It is identical in all dimensions and heat output to the original, so it was a quick replacement operation. So far, it is functioning well.
