FROM THE MANUFACTURER In the midst of the Great Depression, two aggressive young men emerged with two new products that would make major contributions to the housing industry. In 1932, Henry Broan developed and manufactured a kitchen fan called the Motordor Fan that provided quiet and efficient kitchen ventilation. His creation launched what is today known as Broan-NuTone LLC. Four years later, in 1936, J. Ralph Corbett developed a melodious door chime replacing the obnoxious door buzzer of the time. His development launched what is today known as NuTone, Inc. Both men, headquartered in the Midwest, started their companies with a simple product and a few employees. Each expanded their companies, creating revolutionary new products that provided unmatched conveniences for homeowners nationwide. Both companies quickly became global competitors and continued to provide innovative, superior products to meet the needs of consumers. In 1981, Broan Mfg. Co., Inc. was acquired by Nortek, Inc. and became the lead company of Nortek's Residential Building Products Group, which was named the Broan Group. During this same time period, NuTone was sold to Scovill Manufacturing in 1967 and was then acquired by Williams plc in 1991. In 1998, Nortek acquired NuTone, adding it to the Broan Group and renaming the group the Broan-NuTone Group. Then, in January 2000, Broan Mfg. Co., Inc. became Broan-NuTone LLC, with NuTone Inc., Aubrey Manufacturing, Inc. and Rangaire LP as subsidiaries. Today, Broan-NuTone LLC is headquartered in Hartford, Wis. and employs more than 3,200 people in eight countries on three continents. It is North America's largest producer of residential ventilation products such as range hoods, ventilation fans and indoor air quality products and also holds major market positions in chimes, central vacuums, intercom systems, medicine cabinets, built-in electric heaters, whole-house fans, attic ventilators, paddle fans, ironing centers, trash compactors and speakers.

Replaced my 25-30 year old Nutone with this updated version - USED SAME HOUSING
I read some of the reviews for this and hoped it would work out for me. I wanted to use the same mounting/housing that my old Nutone fan/heater used. I was able to do so and literally had this thing installed and working within 10 minutes. I am SO HAPPY. I've had to replace bathroom fans before and this has never been the case. I just ordered a second one for my other bathroom.

Exact match for replacement
Even though had to make a few updates to the existing setup, mostly due to age, this heater matched exactly. Also, I liked the option of choosing whether or not to install the night light. Plus, the heater works great during the cold months.

Excellent quality…installation took sometime
Great product, but give yourself plenty of time for installation. Directions are excellent, but that doesn’t mean it’s easy.

Be mindful of the wiring diagrams
First, whoever wrote the instructions did not do a good job on the wiring diagram. I was able to replace my 30 year old vent with this one within 3 hours. I was able to use the old mounting brackets and it fit beautifully in. It' snot easy to install, especially if you're not electrically versed. It's nice and quiet for its size, and the heat is a blast to use! I even got to use the old vent cover to retain our old vintage look.

Simple replacement for older version
I have a 50 year old house. Not sure how long the old bathroom fan, identical to the Broan 9093WH, has been there. The noise level was bad. About 65dB. It was a relief to turn it off. The noise level was very bothersome. I didn't want to cut a whole new opening so I ordered the 9093WH 70 CFM 1500w fan, heater, light and nightlight unit. I removed the entire motor/heater/fan assembly from the old unit and the new assembly fit exactly into the old can in the ceiling. I plugged the wiring harness connector of the new assembly into the old connector on the can. Everything works. I don't have wiring installed for the nightlight as the old unit didn't have one. This was the easiest fan replacement I have ever done. The best part is the sound level of the new exhaust fan is only 50 dB. When searching all the options for units with heat and light, I was leaning toward other models because of the lower sone ratings. This unit is rated at 3 or 4 sones. 4 sones is about 49 dB. It is so much quieter than the old unit. Some reviews say this fan is loud. No, it is not. My old fan was loud. This one you can hear, but it doesn't assault your senses like the old one. BTW, I never write reviews. I thought I should in case you are considering this unit and are wondering about the noise level.

It fits in the same opening in the ceiling
I replaced a Nutone unit that was installed in 1972. I did need to replace whole the unit. The metal round housing was the same size, however to attach the main component, the hook was in a different position, so I did need to take out the original housing. I did not wire the night light. I had just 4 wires to work with from the old installation. The sound level is about the older unit. The units works well so far!

Easy to transfer “guts” from new unit to old unit
The fan on my old unit died so I bought this one hoping that it would be a perfect match and minimize the headache of replacing it. I can confirm that this is a perfect match for my old unit with no design changes of significance. My old unit was in my house prior to me moving here in 2013, so it’s older than that. Instead of replacing the old ceiling housing with the new housing provided, I simply loosened two screws to remove the “guts” of the new unit. At that point, all I had to do was have someone hold the guts in place while I attached it with two screws in the existing ceiling housing…and then simply connected the wire harness. Everything works perfectly. It was an easy install, no rattling noises or anything from the new unit. Very happy with my purchase.

A solidly built Nutone replacement for an older, worn-out unit
This unit was installed to replace a venerable 30 yr old unit that had noisy fan bearings and no heat for several years (the heating elements are still available as a service part I believe). It's an old design that has been upgraded with a night light. A robust all metal and glass unit of commercial quality that is unique in the way it offers a high wattage heater, 70CFM fan, main light and now night light as one rugged unit. The new four function wall switch that is included with the unit is extremely well made and matches any modern decor. Basic design and dimensions have not changed over the years but check to ensure you have the right model for replacement. The new night light might require a new wire be run from the switch to the unit. The metal damper is still the same and is bent in a way that prevents it from banging on the fan body when the fan is off and the house "breaths" (pressure difference between inside and outside air equalizing). The Imperial 4-inch R2 Exhaust Hood with Screen is good match as an upgraded durable metal outside vent cover. One squirrel cage blower services vent/fan mode and the other for the heater. The manual says the fan and the heater can be used at the same time but I would think that is not energy efficient. The protective interior grille for the resistance heater elements has now been eliminated which is a good design change since it tended to collect dust, a fire hazard. We are using LED bulbs for the main light and night light to minimize electrical consumption and our carbon footprint. As a replacement unit, the only drawback is the noise which other reviews have mentioned. At 3.5 sones, I have been spoiled by our other bathroom fans where we opted for simple quiet1.5 sone units years ago. But with the ensuite bathroom over the rear porch , it gets quite cooler than the rest of the house in winter. And for that reason, the powerful heater is convenient and effective and makes a good hair dryer when I stand underneath it and dry off after a shower. As a long term owner, the new unit is slightly quieter and quickly becomes unobtrusive and the heater is as warm as the old model (if its wired correctly and safely). The new white grille replaces a chrome unit so it tends to disappear from sight although it is easy on the eyes and would look at home in any bathroom. The unit is an excellent value for the price and features but it remains to be seen if offshoring production will have an impact on longevity. Thank you Nutone for keeping this great model and selective maintenance parts still in production!

Easy to install and good quality
The Heater is a little cooler than older model but the exhaust fan is 10x better then the older model of the 80’s
