Wonderful Printer

I love this printer. I had a little trouble understanding how to operate it at first but after watching a video I found on YouTube, I learned how to use it. Once you know what to do, it's a piece of cake. It's GREAT and does a wonderful job printing on ribbon - perfect every time. I make gifts for fallen police officers and when I make wings, these ribbons add a beautiful touch.

My New Best Friend

I have always wanted a label maker, but I thought it would be a plain one that only printed alpha-numeric characters in black on a white surface. I didn't even realize there was another option! This little guy prints on tape, it prints on ribbon, and I've heard a rumor that it prints on washi tape, too! The ribbons and tape come in a slew of colors and patterns. The embellish itself has a bunch of fonts, printing sizes, icons (pictograms), frames, and even the option to print up words in bold or with shading, etc. It comes with one cartridge on white satin ribbon. It requires 6 AAA batteries, or an AC adapter which is sold separately. (psst, there's an option to print two lines in smaller size print, which I've been using to print address labels. Once you have a design that you want to keep using, you can save it as a file for quick access!)

Sending a RIBBON with a label machine?

I bought this machine because I had an much older model. I bought 3 tapes for it. I discovered it came with a ribbon. Ok, I KNOW some may like printing on ribbons, but I bought a label maker, with intentions to print labels to STICK on things. WHY ON EARTH do they enclose a ribbon with a label maker??????? I guess they want me to be disgusted enough to return it all, which I might. I have discussed with support twice, and neither person KNEW that ribbons aren't for using as labels because they don't stick. I was sent a replacement ribbon, as they thought my ribbon was defective? ROFL. Guess what? They refused to send me a tape of my choice, because a RIBBON came with and that is what you will get!!! So another USELESS ribbon arrives. UGH. Their customer service needs to #1, tell their help that ribbons don't stick, and #2, send me a TAPE that I can print LABELS that will STICK!

Can't use out of the box- no power

Works great. BUT comes without batteries or ac adaptor, eg unusable. Buy the appropriate ac adaptor from Amazon at the same time you order the Ptouch or stock up on AAA batteries (6).

Ribbon cutter broke before the first ribbon cartridge was done.

This is a fairly simple ribbon printer to use. My two biggest complaints with this unit are that: 1) you are limited in ribbon width size, length, colour, and patterns. You can not use your own ribbon, nor can you deviate from their expensive cartridges and lackluster options. 2) It's not a sturdy unit. Within the first cartridge my ribbon cutter broke but it was after the return date so now I'm left having to feed the ribbon and cut it by hand. Meh! Brother has you over a barrel with the cartridges, don't buy them? Voila! you now own an expensive ONE TRICK PONY PAPERWEIGHT. I'd like to see a machine with options for various ribbon widths, etc. I would not purchase this unit again.

An indulgence but I like it

Love my new 'toy'. So many options to choose and print from. Laminated tapes look professional. Ribbons (my reason for buying), are not brilliant quality but when printed out but add a special touch. Ribbons are not cheap to buy but the compatible ones fit and look and print out exactly the same.

Fun machine!

I actually haven’t had a chance to use this yet but am excited to when I get a minute. I plan to use it to sew the personalized ribbon on quilts I make or inside bags.
