It does what it does!
Not a precision caliper. Not for use taking ultra precise readings. Great for measuring little stuff to see if it fits or what general size it is to a 16th or so. Useful in guitar pedal building and likely a ton of other stuff.

Box is constructed well and lid fits tight. The one objection I have is that the sides are not at right angles to the base. The description should have stated that the top of the box is 5 15/16" x 3 3/16" while the base is 5 12/16" x 3". In my application I needed the sides to be at right angles to the base.

A Simple Box.
It's a box. It's well cast though with somewhat utilitarian rather than "finished" surfaces. The thickness would make it very strong box for most any rough usage. Given the draft incorporated in the casting mold you'd do well to check the interior dimensions on Bud's website for any critical fit. Bud has long been one of the kings of enclosure manufacturers.

Not my first Bud
This is not my first Bud. The Econobox is a cast aluminum box and as such it is very tolerant to drilling, filing, sanding and painting. I have used this particular Bud box for the past 15 years and have never had to throw one in the scrap because of a error on my part. If you have ever tried the Bud Miniboxes you will appreciate difference between cast aluminum and sheet aluminum. Does this help you?

This box did box stuff perfectly
What can you say about a box? It came quickly, the screws all threaded in nicely, and it sealed up tight. The walls have a slight taper to them in case that matters to you.

Excellent product.
This is a very high-quality project box. Thirty minutes of sanding with 200 then 400 grit polished the whole box to a high shine, and it looks great. The flange fits superbly, although the screws are a bit tight and could strip if tightened carelessly. I would definitely buy this again if I had need for a similar box.
