Hardwood case stained in warm walnut with burl accent on front, gold-tone accents on column caps. Two-tone metal dial offers a classic Roman numeral set of numbers and raised metal bezel. Below a matching pendulum swings back and forth. NEW, Bulova’s Harmonic II PLUS quartz chiming movement plays a total of 20 separate songs each on the hour. Select the classic Westminster chime with separate strike feature that counts each hour OR 12 Traditional songs that play progressively at each hour. These songs are Turkish March, Amazing Grace, La Traviata, Green Sleeves, The Four Season Spring, Blue Waltz, My Grandfather’s Clock, Salute d’Amour, Beautiful Dreamer, Bach Prelude, Home Sweet Home and Nocturne OP9. During the holiday season, adjust the switch and the following favorites will play progressively one each hour: Jingle Bells, Silent Night, Joy to the World, Hark the Herald Angels sing, We Wish you a Merry Christmas and Deck the Halls. Adjustable volume control and automatic night shutoff. Finally, if just the sound of a two note strike counting each passing hour is what you prefer, then that can be chosen as well. Beautiful tone

We bought this clock for our anniversary. The case is very attractive and the motion of the pendulum is quite tranquil. But best of all is the amazing tone of the chimes. It sounds like a much larger clock. Play Windchester chimes and strikes on the hour.

Just what I expected

I bought this clock because I liked its looks, plus I have 2 other Bulova wall clocks in my house which look great and keep accurate time. Initially I had a problem with the strike being out of synch with the hour. Since there is no "Troubleshooting" section in the owner's doc. I contacted customer support via email and they addressed the problem. They even offered to send me a new clock if the fix didn't work. So I now have a beautiful mantel clock that works as designed.

Looks Great and Sounds Great!

I have always enjoyed clocks that sound the hour but insisted on “real” chimes, whether bell, chime, or gong because of the poor “synthetic” quality of electronically generated chimes when they first became available several decades ago. Before purchase, I vetted the Buluva B 1680 very carefully and was surprised at how authentic its chime sounded. The “Harmonic II PLUS quartz chiming” produces a very realistic sound. I really don’t care about the corny tunes it plays but I am very happy with the Westminster or traditional striking sounds. The volume control offers a wide range of loudness settings and the night setting is great. Plus, it keeps great time and has a beautiful classic mantle clock design! If there was one feature I would add it is this: You can’t set it back an hour to adjust to standard time from Daylight Savings time; you have to crank the hands ahead 23 hours, stopping to let it chime every hour. That’s a bit of a pain but only needed once a year. I like the swinging pendulum although it does seem to go much faster than an old-fashioned mechanical pendulum; I'd prefer it a bit slower. All in all, though, I’m very pleased with my purchase.

Love this clock, but

This is a truly beautiful clock. The quality is obvious, and Bulova’s reputation speaks for itself. I grew up with a similar clock, and was happy to find this one. I am going to return it, however, because the swinging of the pendulum is quite distracting. We placed the clock on our fireplace mantel, and it keeps catching my eye, which is just annoying. I’m very disappointed in myself, not the clock…

Impressive and elegant chiming mantel clock

Pretty and well made quality clock with 12 chimes of popular classic pieces, plus 6 Christmas holiday songs. Music is very pretty and not 'tinny'. Completely silent movement.

The tunes have enhanced the atmosphere of my home

I bought this thinking I would simply be adding a beautiful ornament to my mantel. I chose this model over a similar design because I thought the optional classical melodies would be fun. But it has created an ambiance in my home that I just love. As I'm going about my day completing tasks, it is a mental breather to be interrupted once an hour to hear a beautiful melody. I find myself pausing the TV to take it in. It is a great mindfulness tool. I'm looking forward to changing the settings to Christmas tunes come December.
