As the only reviewer so far to actually open the toy set and remove it from the box, I can say with certainty that your child will probably love it. Because our Little Girl has been having the most fun playing with it. Our Daughter loves tea parties, and loves Calico Critters. So this was a winning combination. One thing that surprised me, was the attention to detail. Every piece is extremely detailed, and designed well. Down to the removable cake decorations, and even a tiny little lid for the sugar jar for tea. You can even make out the little lumps of sugar in the jar! We jumped straight into make-believe mode, once everything was set up. Our Little Girl retrieved other Calico Critters to join the party. As well as some of her Peppa Pig figures, to enjoy some cake and tea. I helped her act out different stories involving Lily's party, and she had so much fun. At one point, Candy Cat (from Peppa Pig) made an appearance to question George (Peppa's brother) why he was giving presents to Lily to win her affections, when he's already "married" to Candy Cat. So there was actually a little bit of drama at Lily's party. Our child (we're talking kindergarten) apparently thought that the party could use a little spicy subplot. Is our kid secretly watching Euphoria while we're asleep? I swear I'm not making this up. Anyway, we managed to resolve the drama, and go back to the regular festivities. My Wife was mildly disappointed when she showed up and found out we had been having lots of fun doing make-believe without her. Because she loves tea parties, and also loves when people get to spill the tea to their friends. By the way, it's 100% normal to our child that characters from different collections or cartoons interact (Bluey, Peppa Pig, Little People), especially since they're often close in size. One thing I will point out in advance. Some of the accessories are TINY. Namely the tea cups, plates, the sugar jar, the cake decor (which can be inserted into various peg holes). We were playing on our kitchen island, with our Little Girl sitting on her favorite stool. Two or three times, she would accidentally drop one of the cups, which I'd have to retrieve for her. So even though the smaller parts were better suited for her little fingers than mine, she still managed to drop them occasionally. I'm impressed at how well some of the accessories are detailed, given the size. But since nothing is really shown to scale in the product photos, I at least wanted to point out that certain parts are surprisingly small. But, it has to be proportional to all of the existing Calico Critters, the adults at least. So some things are bound to be tiny. The price is good, for what you get. I usually get fleeced by Barnes & Noble, whenever we take a trip there and our Daughter spots a cute (but overpriced) set. But it's priced lower than some of the sets I've seen with even fewer accessories. You can still get a family of four characters in one pack for less. But then you won't have the cool accessories to actually create specific stories with. Even if your child isn't familiar with Calico Critters, I still think it would make a terrific gift. If they like cute animals, and they like tea time. But if they already like Calico Critters, this should make for a wonderful, memorable present. Our Daughter has so much fun coming up with different scenarios with this set, whether or not I happen to be participating (usually I join in the make believe). Also, my philosophy is that any time they spend working on their imagination instead of being "plugged in" to their Switch, tablet, games, TV, etc is always a good thing. Sometimes they need a break from electronics, and need to have fun the old-fashioned way. When you're done reading this, go ahead and add it to your shopping cart. Then check out. It will show up in the mail tomorrow. Costs less to get this than it does to order a few pizzas. So instead of food you can only enjoy for one night, your child will have an adorable, fun set that they can enjoy for years.
