Not quite right, out of the box

I have seen the reviews about leaking, so I was a bit leery about getting this blender on special. I have been struggling with a ninja blender for a couple of years. I liked the blender, but the cap broke and the seal on the lid, melted quite easily in the dishwasher. I was reluctantly satisfied with holding both down the blender lid and cap to blend what I needed, but had planned to replace the blender. I saw that the calphalon, was on sale and read the reviews. I ordered it as experience varies. I found the following issue with the blender, which was very simple to correct. The rubber ring (out of the box) wasn't seated properly. I took care to feel and seat it properly after seeing it wouldn't screw down with a seal.. It wouldn't close around the juice cup when I screwed it on. I assumed it would leak, like some of the reviews said. So I took my thumb and made sure that is sat flush with the blender base. No problem and no leaking. I will see how this stands up to time, but I can see how people would be upset with this blender out of the box. Try manually making the ring flush with the base and see how it works. I am satisfied with this self modification, out of the box. Time will tell, if this is a permanent fix. The makers should make sure that the ring is flush or leave it out making sure the user puts it in properly. Also, there is a quick start guide that references reading the full manual first (which mentions, assembly). I got no such manual. Odd. So far it is a nice blender, but time will tell. I will update my review, if needed.

Best blender I’ve tried. Love the easy features! Easy to use and to clean!

This was on a flash sale and I’m so glad we bought this! We make so many more smoothies now because they are so easy to make with this blender! The convenience of the two sizes of pitcher and easily unscrewed bottom makes everything so easy to use and clean. I love the different settings and how this machine will do all the hard work, all I have to do is push a button! Sometimes it reads “add more liquid” and you have two settings for smoothing, thin or thick and I love this feature! Certain smoothies taste better thick and some better thin, it’s a great feature to use! We’re looking forward to trying the salsa feature it takes us so long to make and we love homemade salsa! The power of this machine is incredible and it’s easy to use. We love it. Worth every penny and it’s helping us live a healthier lifestyle! We can make enough for six smoothies at once for us and our four kids in one pitcher! Just, awesome. Love!

Loved it until...

Bought this blender exactly one year and three weeks ago, to the day. I bought it in an attempt to make protein shakes more palatable. I didn't start using this blender until a couple of months ago and loved it so much that I talked at least two other people into buying the same one. Protein shakes come out perfectly smooth. No sandy consistency. I went to blend my shake today and the blades wouldn't spin. Not sure what caused it. Currently waiting to hear back from the company about a replacement. I'll amend my review as necessary. As long as customer service works as well as this product began, I'll continue to promote this blender.

Fantastic Blender!

Granted, this is a big step up from the 20-year-old Oster I’d been using which only just died. I’d had my eye on a Vitamix but that price. Eeek! Then I saw this on a Lightning Deal and read several reviews on other sites of this one. There’s only 109 HP difference between this and the Vitamix but the price difference is huge. So, I got this one and I am thrilled with it. So far, it’s turned out delicious guacamole, chunky fresh salsa, creamy hummus, thick milkshakes, perfect virgin daiquiris, frozen fruit smoothies (just be sure to add enough liquid!) and countless protein shakes. We use it at least three times a day since it’s so easy to clean (unlike the old Oster). Seriously one of my best kitchen purchases in a while. I highly recommend it.

No parts! Such a joke

Was extremely impressed with the technology behind this blender. Being an engineer myself Active sense sold me on this. But what I noticed was it never kept up with the promise of texture/thickness. The programs never worked for me, the cycle would end abruptly after reaching 65% and it never produced the desired level of texture/thickness. Hence disappointed. The manual mode worked pretty well though. I was able to achieve what I wanted but had to keep stopping at regular intervals to check the outcome. The biggest let down is the lack of parts. My wife frequently uses the blender as well as the to go cup and we didn’t want to keep swapping the blades across them. So we wished there were two blades one for each of the blender and the to go cup. When I wrote to the customer care, they responded saying no parts are available. So let’s say the blade wears out over time or you think you needed another to go cup, you are left in the dark. That for me is a big deal when you purchase such a high budget blender. Firstly I would expect it to come with separate blades for the blender and the cup. Had to make a touch decision on returning it. Hope Calphalon customer care is listening.

Better Margaritas than a Tex-Mex Restaurant

The Calphalon Activesense blender is quite the show stopper at our dinner parties that include frozen homemade margaritas. First, though, the nuts and bolts. It’s quite easy to clean when compared with multiple other models, it looks attractive, and it has enough volume to make drinks for at least 6 people at a time. Realistically, I would prefer it to be quieter, but it is a blender and it is crushing ice cubes, so maybe I’m asking too much in that department. Smoothies, soups, and mixed drinks are a simple touch of the screen to produce, with automated blending and smart features. Gone are the days of fighting with the blender and pushing several settings for one drink. Instead, you tell it the product it is making, the consistency you want, add the ingredients, and push start. If it needs more liquid or more ice, it will let you know.
