It's a plastic lantern - it lights.
It is hard to get enthused about something I got to use in my toolbox, and I guess in case of an emergency or power outage. I should have read more closely as it does not come with a rechargeable battery pack, although one is available. Instead I hunted down the 3 "D Cell" batteries, which I have NOTHING else that requires them, so of course I had none. I used the lantern in my crawl space while doing some plumbing (so I was already not in a good mood, "feel me"?) and it provided OK indirect light so I didn't have to juggle a flashlight while steadily cussing. That's not to say I didn't cuss, I just could see what I was doing while cussing with free hands. End of the story, it did what I bought it to do, nothing more, with adequate light to work by. I used it for about 2 - 3 hours and saw no big drop in power, so that was good. Basically, it did what it was designed to do.

Coast Rechargeable Lantern
This is a really nice quality lantern. It has multiple ways to mount or hang it and is perfect for camping or when the power goes out. It can actually get brighter than expected. The title says that it is a rechargeable lantern but if you read deep into the description you will see that you have to get rechargeable batteries for it to do that. Otherwise you have to get some D batteries. I thought this was misleading since it doesn't say that in the title and you have to look for it, so I took off a star. Besides that the product itself is top notch.

Sturdy and Bright
Right out of the box, this lantern felt well built and sturdy. It was a little bit bigger than I was expecting but that's not an issue at all. I knocked a star off because I thought it came with a built-in rechargeable battery, but the company sells a proprietary battery that fits in the dual purpose battery cage. That battery was available on their website for a fair price. If you use it a lot that is probably the way to go. I will only occasionally use it so using 3 D batteries is fine with me. The versatility of this is pretty cool. It has a retractable carabiner clip on the top and bottom of the lantern allowing you to hang it from pretty much anything. It also has a stand that you can pull out to kind of aim it at different spots. It has multiple brightness settings for white and red light. It gets super bright, it would work great for pretty much anything you would need a light for. With the second red setting it blinks and could act very well as an emergency light on the side of the road. Overall seems very high quality and definitely able to do the job of lighting up whatever you may need to see!

Deceptive title but a very nice lantern.
It’s a very nice lantern, but there is nothing about this lantern as ordered that is rechargeable. Be sure and read the description. Every flashlight or battery powered lantern is rechargeable… all you need to do is buy rechargeable batteries and an external battery charger. That is what this lantern requires. Also, I went to the manufacturers website, and the battery they say they offer (on Amazon) is neither available on Amazon nor from the manufacturer’s website, so I have no idea what the cost would be to be able to use this lantern as a rechargeable lantern. So again, if you’re looking for a very nice “D” cell battery powered lantern, this one fits the bill and that’s why I gave it four stars. But as sold, it’s not a rechargeable product, and when I looked, they don’t offer a means of making it rechargeable.

Decent output
Not a bad light, uses 3D cells. Go rechargeable with a battery pack specific for this, not going to spend the extra money for it. Great for emergency lighting.

I missed a part about it
While I did read some of the info on the product, I didn't read all of the info- so I didn't see that the "rechargeable"part of it is if you buy a specific rechargeable battery for it, separately. I feel they could use a different headline/title at least, to clarify that it is capable of being rechargeable, if the battery is purchased separately. Anyway, that was the hook for me before I got it. I do like how bright it gets though and that it has the ability to hang...which is how I'll be storing it when not in use

Nice, versatile and durable lantern
I really like the versatility of this lantern. It has 3 brightness settings (2 in red). It has a carabiner on top and bottom, as well as a folding handle. The diffuser comes off which makes a great light to hang upside down to focus the light downward. From experience, I think this is a very useful feature. It does NOT have a magnetic base as implied by the Amazon description. A couple of minor complaints: First, as I pulled it out of it's box, the base came off the top (diffuser) and the base fell to the floor. This was a good drop test and it survived without any issues. At first I thought it was a design flaw in which the diffuser twisted on/off too easily. I later realized that it twists on tightly if you give it a little more force. It will then stay on pretty well. Secondly, I did not see anywhere on the included instructions how to install the batteries. I soon found that the very bottom also twists off to expose the battery bay. The markings in the battery bay are not easily seen so it took a little effort to figure out how to orient the 3 batteries. These are minor complaints so I did not dock any stars. Finally, it is designed to use either 3 D cell batteries OR a proprietary, rechargeable battery sold by the seller. The rechargeable battery must provide more power as it shows the lantern output of 1750 lumens compared to the standard 1250 using the D cell batteries. I would consider the rechargeable battery but not at almost $40 ( the lantern does come with a 20% off for the rechargeable battery). Overall, I think this is a very nice lantern for camping or emergencies. At $30, I think it is a pretty good value.

Perfect Camping Lantern
Can't wait to use this lantern. Powered by batteries that are supposed to last 7+ hours, weather resistant, equipped with an emergency distress signal, visible from about 60 feet (20 meters), and 5 light modes, this lantern checks all the boxes. Don't be fooled by "rechargeable"...as that just means you can swap out batteries or you buy one of their recommended batteries that they sell. Still a great durable lantern.
