Capezio's Freeform shoe is versatile enough to wear for ballet, jazz, and even modern dancing. The barely-there feel is more like a second skin than a shoe, with a leather and stretch fabric construction that molds to the perfect fit. A pre-attached elastic strap keeps you in place. Salvatore Capezio was born in 1871 in Muro Lucano, Italy. Uninterested in following in his father's footsteps as a construction engineer, he became an artist of his own right, a cobbler. In 1887, at the age of 17, he opened his shop on Broadway and 39th Street, diagonally across from the old Metropolitan Opera House in New York City. Soon, the shop became a meeting place for dancers who would stop by to discuss their needs and to get a pair of his shoes. As Capezio's popularity grew, dancers from around the world made it a point to visit him and purchase his shoes. The innovation of the products that Salvatore Capezio created and the camaraderie he shared with the dancers molded the direction that his company would follow. In this image, the Capezio brand was established to promote and recognize ongoing achievements and participation in dance. Capezio products remain in the forefront in quality and in technological advances with innovations like the split-sole, the stretch-insert, the Dansneaker and the Tapsneaker. Capezio believes that their success is dependent upon the individual commitment of each customer to continually set new standards of creativity and performance, while preserving a reputation for dependability and distinction. Capezio pledges their support and dedication to the advancement of dance, theater and recreation in communities worldwide.

Sized small
Had to order another pair. First pair was quick to arrive. Replaced for a larger size. Larger size never showed then Amazon sent a replacement. Haven’t worn long enough to know how quickly they wear out.

Prefect fit
Perfect fit. Only complaint is they stain and the leather peel after a few uses.

Nice dance shoes
I like these shoes. They are very comfortable. But they come smaller. For example, my street shoes are size 7, but I need to order size 8.5 for these shoes in order to be fit. I ordered size 7 for these shoes at first, they are too small to get in. Then I had to exchange them to size 8.5, which is the right size. These shoes are well packaged with a red box. I cannot wait to wear them in my next dance class! I feel them more comfortable than normal ballet shoes since they wrap the feet more which feel more support and comfort. I highly recommend this product to dancers. Thanks.

Try a few sizes!
I normally wear a 6 in flat shoes (like sneakers and sandals) and a 5.5 in heels (or fitted dress flats). I ordered a bunch of sizes ranging from 6-8.5 because of Amazon's free returns policy for shoes. Note that I'm not wearing these for any serious dancing but rather for some latin dance classes and practice at home. Here was my experience: * Size 7: started with this one, which was quite tight, so didn't bother trying on 6-6.5. * Size 7.5: felt like good fit overall. Fitted but not too loose. Won't slip off the heel. Slight gap between the edge of the elastic band in the front and the top of my foot, but doesn't affect the fit. * Size 8: more space for the toes, which is nice because the toenail doesn't poke at the leather as much. Clear gap between the edge of the elastic band in the front and the top of my foot...doesn't seem to affect the fit, but looks quite unsightly, especially if you are wearing a light color like the pink or tan ones (in black, it's not as obvious). Might slip off the heel, but when I pull the movable elastic band from the back to the front, there is a better fit and the heel does not seem like it will slip off (haven't danced in them long enough yet though). * Size 8.5: definitely too big. In general, I found the heel pad to not fit directly under my heel but a bit towards the front, which means you can feel the edge of the pad when you step down on your heel. Not sure how normal this is for dance shoes. At size 7, it felt quite strange. It got better as the size went up. Seems to feel ok enough at size 8. These are so cute that in the end, I'm keeping the pink one in size 7.5 (a light color looks better if more fitted) and the black one in size 8. I'll use one for home and one for class. Good luck!

Great shoes if you're not going to be En Pointe. Great for turning and traveling.
I bought these for belly dance classes and they're fabulous. As soon as we do a couple of pencil-turns, the other students start eyeing my shoes. I get asked about these shoes every class. We do not ever go En Pointe but we spend most of our time in Relevé. The toes of my shoes look as perfect as when they arrived. Fit: First, let me say I chose fit as expected because I read the reviews and followed others' advice, mostly. At first I tried a half size up but I sent those back (amazon's free shoe returns policy) and went another half up. These will stretch a bit to give some more room in the toe width-wise, but they are not going to get any longer. My advice is to measure your foot and check which size the chart recommends, then go a full size and a half larger. The length matters because you also want the pad on the ball of the foot to line up properly. Wear: I bought the black ones. For the first 4 or 5 classes my feet came out of them completely blackened. Then it was just like maybe I walked outside barefoot, and then nothing. They've softened up a bit, but as I mentioned with size, buy them so they fit they way you want from day one. They're not intended to reshape with wear. I happen to like that because I expect I'll get more wear out of them. I suspect that the people who complain about the shoes being ruined after just a few hours of use went too small. I will buy these again whenever this pair wears out. I love how light they are and they are exactly what I need for class. I prefer to dance barefoot but, after one particularly turn-intensive (painful two days later) class, I use these now for every class and I love them.

Best ballet/dance shoes so far.
Excellent quality but I had to purchase it again with 2 sizes bigger than my daughter’s foot size. It is shorter than it should be.

Very Comfortable and fit well
I bought these for my daughter and read the product description and sizing recommendations. I bought what was suggested and they fit great! They stay on through turns and leaps and they don't feel too tight either. My daughter likes the movement these offer as well. For the price, they are an incredible shoe!

Hmmmmmmm.....
I have trained and danced professionally for over 15-Years and during the interim of my history I have never received shoes in such poor condition; at least one that is. I have taken the liberty to include (as a comparison) one of my old shoes to the new. Having shared this and not to get off in the weeds, My shoe is the dingy well loved pink one. I have worn the shoe out but want to display the condition of one of the new shoes. It looks like a sample. The material is somehow stretch and baffled looing in appearance. I am NOT pleased and now have to contact Capezio to learn if this is indeed their shoe. Not excluding the new labeling and embossing underneath the heel and inside of the shoe. I have never strayed away from ordering shoes from true dance stores. This time, I purchased two pair. What the Petite Allegro is going on? I am pissed.

Sizing is much smaller than expected
When I first ordered the size was probably half of what I was expecting. The sizing guide is not that helpful or accurate. However, it was very easy to return and the next order I put in was the right size and it's a great shoe.

Just what I wanted, but unfortunately for me, too small. First order, 1/2 (wide) size up (5 1/2 UK ; US 7 1/2) and surprised to find that they were very small; second order 1 1/2 (wide) sizes up (US 8 1/2) from my usual size, and still very very tight. I know the difference between UK and US sizes, so that is not the issue. I don’t think in time they will stretch enough to be comfortable. The toe and heel pads came up short for me. Fair to say, I have old feet, so perhaps too old to be a ballerina! Otherwise, slippers are nice and just wished they fit.

Heads (or feet) up!! Sized incredibly small
As per other reviews, it really truly does fit 1- 1.5 sizes smaller than your street size. I am an 8.5 and purchased a 9, and it is too small. Please keep this in mind when ordering as it is a wonderful shoe and worth purchasing.

A little narrow
If you have wide feet, go up a size.
