Born from a dream of "creating a watch that never breaks." It was over 30 years ago, a CASIO engineer won the battle against the laws of nature. He designed a watch that would resist centrifugal and impact forces, as well as high water pressure. Since then, the name G-SHOCK has become a byword for independence and pushing the limits. G-SHOCK watches are the most durable digital and analog-digital watches in the industry, trusted by military personnel, law enforcement, surfers and outdoor enthusiasts around the world. Along with this, G-SHOCK is highly touted in the fashion world, worn by icons in hip-hop, sports, and design. With limited edition collaborations being released often, you can always find a G-SHOCK that matches your personality and style.

Always great watches, nearly indestructible!
Love Casio watches. Compass works great as long as you Calibrate every so often and the temperature sensor is accurate within 2-3 degrees. Highly recommend calibrating both sensors when you get the watch as it has likely been sitting in a warehouse for storage for awhile before you get it. Timer function is great as it always is on Casio watches, fairly self explanatory setting it up. Display is very easy to read with high contrast and the backlight works great too. Have worn the watch numerous times while in the shower/swimming and have never had any issues with the waterproofing, works great in any conditions. The mineral glass dial is incredibly hard to scratch, I work at a nuclear plant and have thousands of opportunities to scratch it every day and I haven't given it a single knick yet even though it's been used and abused like any good work watch. The band is very comfortable and easy to wear, I often forget that I even have the watch on with the soft silicone material. The only negative is that the band is proprietary and is difficult to find a replacement for if it were to ever wear out or if you'd like to change up the style. For the price of this watch, it's absolutely worth a buy. You'll get many years of use out of this beast and I can't imagine a way someone could break this watch aside from driving over it in a semi-truck, and even then I think it would stand a chance of still keeping time. Worthwhile affordable timepiece for those of us that still work for a living!

Great Watch - Fantastic Price - Looks Good and is Sturdy
My son wanted a watch because all his friends had one - so this was more of an impulse purchase for him. At first I wasn't sure about buying on Amazon so we show roomed around town to look at this watch at retail outlets first to see if this is something he really liked and wanted and to ensure that it would not look too big or small on his wrist and that the enthusiasm for the watch was still there after a few trips. It was. After trying the watch at a few retail outlets and seriously considering buying it offline we noted the price in most cases was between $25.00 and $45.00 more than online and though there were a few negative reviews we decided finally to buy it online. I'm an Amazon Prime member and the watch came within 2-days just as it said it would. It was well packed in an outer box and the watch came in full retail packaging including the original manual. The first thing I did was to ensure it was a new watch and not something someone else had returned. I checked the screen, and back of the watch for scratches - none seen. Checked the band for any obvious usage like worn lettering and such - but of course, nothing of the sort. I was 100% satisfied that this was new and not a refurb/repack or anything else. As with most watches you do need to read the instructions to set the date/time and other features of the watch. The manual is an easy read and setting up the various items like date/time, world clock, and compass were pretty easy. The watch has come great features: - Big, bold and easy to read display. Although my son has great eyesight it's always nice to have a watch where the numbers are easy to read. The date and day is slightly smaller but the main display shows the time is large and bold and just below that is the seconds. - Stopwatch. My son started playing soccer and liked helping his coach, so the stopwatch was great so when they ran mini-races he would use the stopwatch to time the other kids. He also used the stopwatch to time himself doing his chores in the house! - World time. Not sure why he liked this so much, but he liked the world time feature. Many of his cousins live in Africa, so his world time is set accordingly. - Timer - again a feature that I didn't think was useful, but he liked it. - Alarm - LOVE this feature on the watch! Previously we would have to wake him up, but he sets the alarm himself and actually wakes up to it. - Compass - something that he won't use often but is a nice feature on the watch. Whenever we've gone out he'll set the compass to see if it matches what's shown in the car, to date I don't think it has ever been off. As you move it does tell you in great detail how many degrees you are as well (for example 33.4 degrees NNW). The size of the watch was perfect for his wrist - I bought this a couple of years ago so he was around 8 at the time. Initially it looked a little big for him, but after some time it seemed to look OK. I suspect it was just not seeing a watch on him until that time. He was never a watch person as a toddler so never got him even those kids Mickey Mouse or superhero watches. The watch edges come up over the face making it very difficult to scratch the face of the watch. I've noticed a few small, minor scratches on it but that's from banging it against something. They are definitely not visible. There are some scratches on the back as well, but again nobody looks at the back and the main reason for these scratches are because he leaves his watch in his drawer along with everything else in it. I actually liked the strap on it, initially I thought that we would have to replace it but it has held up very well with no cracks on it at all. The strap is not cheap plastic but quite a strong rubbery texture to it. I also worried that he may be allergic to the strap but no issues at all. The only noticeable wear and tear is on the strap where some of the lettering has come off, but on the face of the watch none of the lettering has come off or faded. He really hasn't tested the watch to the 200m depth but has gone swimming and in the hot tub with it on and hasn't had any problems. He's taken the watch to school and several adults have commented on how sharp the watch looks. The Casio SGW100-1V is a great watch for adult or child over 8-years of age. We are definitely very happy with the watch and would not hesitate to recommend this to any parent who wants a first watch for their child.

kind of cunfusing to calibrate compass
I love it!!! It is kind of confusing to calibrate the compass portion. One of those "OH THATS HOW YOU DO IT" type things with following the directions. It can be done by an idiot however if I (I mean you) stay with it and pay attention to the direction steps.

Casio SGW100 watch
As well as giving me the functions I wanted, this is a smart looking watch; it is not too cumbersome unlike some of this type of watch.

Great first 'proper' watch for my son
Got this for my son's 10th birthday as his first proper watch. He's had other cheapo no-name brands in the past but they fall apart/break pretty quickly. Figured it was time to go the whole hog and get him his first Casio, it's where I started when I was a kid and I have fond memories of my old digital watches. Chose this for the cool factor of having thermometer and compass built it - both works, but I don't think you'd want to have your life depend on either to be honest. All the other usual functions like countdown, stopwatch, various alarms, a dual time zone are here as usual and work just fine. The watch is comfortable to wear on its fairly flexible strap, and easy for him to put on and off himself without help. Its waterpoof enough to withstand the pool, lake, bath and wherever without having to worry about it, and the backlight is nice. Overall, great watch for the price, and a perfect size for my sons wrist, he loves it. I found the face a little small for my wrist. If you're looking for a watch that will last and that you don't have to worry about, this is perfect for adults or older kids alike. It'll last my son through his teenage years and beyond anyway, and that's good with me. Finally something that doesn't seem to have degraded in quality over the years. These Casio's are just as good if not better than I remember them. You really can't go wrong. Hope that helps! :)

Couldn't find anything better
When the strap on my old Casio ( Same Model ) broke after 10 years of solid use and abuse, I was trying to find a new strap set. But they are so expensive in relationship with the original price, I paid $29.99 US ten years ago in Miami on Walmart on a black friday. I really love this watch and since the Protek and G-Shock are basically no better than this and far more expensive I see no reason to mess with perfection. So here I am buying the exact same model again. And the kicker is that the old one is still ticking fine it only needs a new strap. I'm sure it will outlast me, all the buttons and functions still work fine, I really love the compass is quite helpful when you are in an unfamiliar neighborhood. The light is super clear at night and still works. Get one, you won't regret it.

good value for the price
Have had this watch for 1.5 years now. I wear it outdoors in all conditions and temperatures, and in the swimming pool. No problems at all with it. The compass seems reasonably accurate, caveats are you have to calibrate it every month or two, and cannot be used with a large metal mass nearby (like in a vehicle). The temperature sensor is not especially useful as wearing the watch next to your skin throws off the reading. However, it is ideal if you take it off at night when tenting, and then check it in the morning to see how cold it is outside. Light provides easily read illumination. Not sure what the battery life will be but so far so good. Extremely good travel item as it is not so expensive that you would fret if lost or stolen. Overall excellent value for the price.
