Much better than the 9" of same brand.
I'm not actually sure they are the same brand, they look nothing alike. I recently ordered two of these and one in the 9" size. I received the 9" a couple days earlier and promptly gave a negative review. My first ever review. I thought it only fair to give a deserved positive review here. The 6" looks nothing like the 9", happily. Never to sure about some of these things you get on places like Amazon. I'm not at all sure they are the same brand. The 9" I received looked nothing like the picture or what I wanted, as well as being too small, smaller than a 9" of another brand. These two 6" do however look just like the picture, and were pretty much what I was expecting and what I wanted. I will probably be getting a couple more, and I would definitely recommend them. If anyone is wondering they will easily hold 250' of 30lb. mono line, probably over 300'. Looking forward to bringing in some eater size catfish on these. Where I fish there is the possibility of hooking something much larger than eater, could be interesting. If you're looking at these and not sure, go for it. I think you'll be happy.

Simple, effective and disposable if I may say so
Nice simple / cheap gadget to fish, I been using these for 30+ years to fish from the coast/beach, on piers, from boats, kayaks, you name it. Whoever says you can't cast with it, well I am not going to argue, if you dont know and need a rod then that is what you need. I can throw the line pretty far out anytime, have caught saltwater fish of all kinds and sizes with them. Not for kids of any age, is large for their hands even a small size yo-yo like this one, not at least until they know how to coordinate their movements / hands in sync properly as manual work is required to cast, retrieve the line, and know what to do when you hook a fish, a fishing rod is actually easier for a kid as also is harder to get the feel when a fish is just bitting. If you like to think outside the box give it a try, I have never owned a fishing rod as I never really needed it.

GREAT VALUE
I USE IT FOR HOLDING LONG (40 FT) LEADER LINE AFTER USING IT FOR MUTTON SNAPPER FISHING . I ONLY WIISHED THEY HAD HOLES OR SLOTS ON THE SPOOL FOR HOLDING THE HOOKS. THEY ARE A GREAT VALUE . DRILLED MY OWN HOLES

A portable, cheap way to catch some fish - Great for travel!
You can put this anyway, tuck it away in your glove box, or put it in your carry-on, and then add some string, a weight, and a hook and voila, you're fishing! My husband always like to fish when we're on vacation, but when we fly there isn't room for his pole. In Puerto Vallarta we watched locals catching big fish, one after another, using one of these, and then walked all over downtown PV trying to find one for sale, but didn't. Happily, Amazon sells these, so I ordered one for my husband and my son.

Price perfect
This thing is ideal for the man or woman who has to have a spare fishing pole tucked under his truck seat for "fishing emergencies". I have grown to truely love mine. I shaved the little bit of manufacturing quality control plastic from the seem lines which I was expecting from a low price product. I loaded mine up with 80lb Walmart braided line. It took about 5 times more than a typical fishing pole. I didn't need to put that much on there but I wanted that much on there. Attached to my line is a swivel and clasp combo so I can quickly switch out my leader lines (which I use 30lb leaders for a weak point for the line to break in a snag) which has worked perfectly for me. It works perfect for crabbing or fishing

Simplicity Itself
With something as basic as this little outfit for fishing, what you see is what you get. Whilst I can see the case being made for buying a larger Yo Yo, the size seems adequate. I think the sentiment towards larger spools is that the bigger it is, the less winding you have to do in order to retrieve your line. But I have no complaints about this. I did, at an internet video's suggestion, drill two little holes in the flat center of the spool, just so I could knot the line and fish with a bit more confidence. but other than that, it's a neat way to fish :) Takes a little finesse when it comes to casting, but this form of fishing survives because it's time-tested simplicity doesn't detract from how effective it is. I can throw it in a backpack, set out hiking without a cumbersome rod, find a spot, bait and go. And like I say to those who seem curious about it; "The less moving parts you have, the less likely it is to fail."

Good for the money
I am making up a few fishing kits that must fit in a shoe box. Obviously, a rod won't. Last year I just left it up to the recipient to figure out how to use the line, lures, hooks and so on; but I think this may make it easier. I will go ahead and affix the line to this for the recipient. A 9" yo-yo reel won't fit in the box, but this one will. BTW, mine was orange. It seems sturdy enough for its purpose.

Works great
Better than a rod if you fight big fish..I pull kingfish in Trinidad until the reels start to collapse over 50 lbs.. 50lb and under plastic caster works great. Used them over 20 years. Can carry 4-5 of them on one arm when loading the peirogue/boat..

Very happy with this product, warrants a review
i bought two of these, mine came in very bright orange and royal blue colour. quality is much better than in the picture. Feels very solid and made with good plastic. Price is more than i wantd to pay but quality seems worth it. Happy with the colours, i do think they should offer a choice in the interest of customer service. 5 star review though
