Works well so far
The potato masher works well, and it does indeed prevents potatoes from rolling away from you while you mash them. Note that the masher is spring loaded, so you need to add force when you go down, but then it springs up when you move up. The openings are narrow and long, so it mashes potatoes pretty well and it might be working a bit faster for me with less missed pieces. The handle is thick and easy to hold. Note that you press down on it and it does not have a rest for the fingers on the handle, but the top part of the handle where you would press down is rounded and quite comfortable, at least for when I mashed 1-2 pounds of potatoes. The outside loop of the working part of the masher is coated with silicone so it would not scratch your pot or bowl, but I have a concern about it - it has tiny holes from manufacturing process, and I think they might collect dirt that will get inside and under the silicone cover and will breed bacteria there. I am always for fully enclosed in silicone utensils, as the seams and edges tend to come away with time and use because of the nature of silicone - slippery and hard to adhere. I am not sure if fully enclosed masher would actually work, though. Anyway, it works very well for now. I think it might need some occasional boiling sessions for disinfecting in case something does get under the silicone coat.

This may provide more of a workout at the end of your day than you want
Efficient, with an easily grasped handle, but it's a bit difficult to wield, as the metal is stiff, with a fair amount of resistance, so that it requires more strength than an ordinary masher. It's a great idea, but I prefer the tried and true design of those other mashers. Thank you for reading my review. I hope you'll let others know you found it helpful by clicking the button below.

Keeps potatoes centered ???????? GREAT KITCHEN TOOL
The media could not be loaded. This is a review of: Chef N, Masher Potato EDITED 11/01/2021***** I changed my overall rating to 5 Stars. The more I use it, the more I like it. I made chili last night and used this tool to break up the clumps of ground beef while browning it. It did a SUPERB job and was much more efficient than the old designed potato masher. The ‘spring’ action also saved my wrist and took much less effort. I also posted the ‘in action’ video of my using it. I’m recommending this product again. LynKin ORIGINAL REVIEW- January 2021…..This potato masher is a TOTALLY NEW DESIGN of any others I have used in the past. I’m still getting used to this modern innovation. It is stainless steel. The handle is a hard plastic and was comfortable for me; my hand did not slip or slide. The masher is a relaxed rectangular shape with rounded corners approximately 3 1/2” x 2 7/8” x 1”. This 1” depth provides the ‘spring loaded’ feature of this product. I am 67, and this ‘spring loaded’ tension and resistance is an issue for me as I have lost upper body strength. I actually had to use both hands/arms to provide enough force to mash. I am embarrassed to admit my arms were a bit sore the next day. Because I had to use both hands, it was necessary to place my pot on a nonslip mat to prevent it from sliding. I was very awkward using this masher at first until I found my rhythm. The outer edge of the masher is silicone coated so it doesn’t scratch your pot or bowl. The design follows the contour of the bowl/pot, a feature I really like. . The angled masher keeps the potatoes centered and mashes the potatoes more efficiently. I was happy with the end result. I believe my age and loss of strength in my hands and arms is relevant to my review and must be taken into consideration. In my opinion this probably would not be an issue for younger generations. I didn’t rate Sheerness and Thickness because I don’t understand the relevance. This review was written by LynKin.

This device has too much spring in it's step...
It works however collapses while smashing. I’m happy with the old fashioned wire masher that doesn’t give while mashing. Anything you smash with this must be throughly cooked to a tender texture.

Difficult to use
Too difficult to use. I prefer the traditional style. I had to press too hard to mash a potato because it is flimsy.

Its a potato masher
IT worked ok. It has a kind of fatal flaw where this mashing metal part bends and moves. This may be fine if you are mashing something soft but its hard to use for stiff potatoes. It is strong and sturdy but the coil(?) metal part may or may not mash as efficiently as you would like for that I took off a star....other than that what can I say its a potato massher.

A Good Masher for Potatoes
If you need to mash up some potatoes, this is a good tool for doing so. It's very easy to use and easy to clean after use. It has a silicon handle, so it's also comfortable to hold while you're mashing potatoes. Overall, it's just as advertised and good for the kitchen.
