Great Shorts!
Liked everything about these shorts. The fit is great, they feel nice and light in the wearing. Dry incredibly quickly after washing. Pockets just where you want them. Highly recommended.

I like them but a few flaws.
I couldn't quite give these 5 stars even though they're my favorites shorts because they're comfortable, quick-drying and lightweight. They don't dry as quick as their back cast water shorts but they do dry quick. The reason I couldn't give these 5 stars is because I have 3 of them, and in the very first time I wore all 3 the back pocket would rip inside making it impossible to put anything in it. I do use my back pockets pretty often for receipts or to quickly hold my pliers while I'm fishing or sometimes for my keys and it's obviously impossible to do that with these. I use a thin front pocket wallet but if you put yours in your back pocket these shorts won't do it for you. Another issue you may have, is that the pockets are not very deep at all. I can hold my wallet just fine but I carried my pocket flashlight in them and it never came loose but in these shorts I lost my light. Those are the reasons I couldn't rate them 5 stars. I know it sounds like more cons then pros but I like the way they look and they're comfortable because the waist band is really stretchy allowing for full motion. If you can get past the bad pocket design, these are great shorts. Lastly, I'm 5'8", 175lbs and medium was perfect.

Pricey but worth it.
Columbia always make good clothes. The material is nice, light, and strong. The lightweight shorts are a welcome escape for the big, heavy, cargo shorts I wear most of the time. Columbia is pricey but worth it in my opinion.

Love the fabric! Love these pants
There are some clothes that you try on first time and think YES! These are just great. There are two pockets a side in front -the top ones are very shallow on the first ones I got and I do not see that I can put anything in them safely. The next ones I bought are ok so it may have been a production error. Small useful pocket for a penknife or key on RHS and two pockets at the back which I don't use. I do love the synthetic slightly elastic feel of this material. These wash and dry so easily. I'd avoid cotton like the plague now -too heavy and not comfortable. slow to dry etc etc Some people say this fabric is see- through but I guess that depends on what undies you wear or if you have any. My white boxer briefs don't attract any adverse comments from my usually harsh critics in the family. I'd be the first to hear it.

not as good as before
I have bought about 10 of these over the years. This last pair was made of inferior material. The fabric is thinner and oddly stretchy. The elastic is weak. Also the dimensions changed. They don't look or feel the same. What was great now sucks. Don't waste your money. What a pity because these used to.be my favorite shorts.

Main pockets too shallow
First of all I will say these are comfortable for around the house, but I can't wear them when travelling. The issue is the primary hip pockets are ridiculously shallow, I mean they're less than 1" deep at the back side which is to prevent things from falling out when you sit down. My phone sits half-way hanging out when I stand up. Even golf balls fall out, which is a shame because I like Columbia products and as I said, they're really comfortable. There are a second set of pockets just below the hip pockets, more positioned to the front of the leg. They have velcro patches to keep the pocket closed, but this pocket is just a little deeper than the hip pockets and they're only good for light, flat objects...no good for your phone because when you walk the item in this pocket will start flipping away from your leg with each step and then bounce back on it, which is distracting when walking. I'm not returning these because I can use them for putting around inside and they'll work for fishing too.
