Quality and excellent product
I always trust on Columbia for winter seasons. Good product, excellent fit. I will try it next winter in South America

Good but not vintage columbia.
Fits as described. Quality screams made overseas. Coat is warm and the cut looks good. Just really like everything else today, it's OK. It won't blow you away but it will do the job. Can't see it lasting more than 4-5 yrs.

size runs slightly larger
Wore coat skiing at Park City Utah but temps were too warm to really test how well the coat will keep you warm. Sizing has been the only issue so far. Ordered large based on size chart. I'm 5'10" & 175# with size 44 chest. Coat is slightly big. Tried the medium & it looked good on me (nice athletic slimming look) but it was too tight across chest and grabbed me under my arm pits when moving around. Getting older now so I went with comfort over looks.

Comfy and lightweight
This jacket is very comfortable and lightweight, yet seems to keep me warm enough. The outer layer seems to shed water well from water I've seen so far. I would say this is a good jacket if you will be fairly active on a real cold day, I wouldn't wear it i9f I was going to be sitting on a bucket fishing when it real cold, but I have wore it fishing on +20°F days.

Overall happy but the liner is a bit lighter than I expected.
The features on the outer coat include: 1) pit zippers to regulate air flow. 2) fully adjustable hood. 3) small pocket on the left wrist. 4) the pocket over your heart is large enough for a cellphone or sunglasses. 5) the hand pockets are ample and don't leak heat out too much when open. 6) an adjustable draft skirt to keep the warm air in and cold out. 7) mesh lining has 1 pocket on the right side. Good for a hat. The liner jacket is very light and square shaped compared to the tapered outer jacket. 1) 2 pockets for your hands or gloves. 2) reflective omni-heat coating. The warmth is not there if you want to stand around in the cold for a long time with just a t-shirt on. A drawstring on the bottom would be great, I sewed in some elastic on the sides to dart it in.

Good budget ski coat - fits large; consider sizing down
I ordered this jacket and also tried on options from Helly Hansen, North Face, REI, and Mountain Hardware. This was the least expensive of the coats and the features (vents, warmth of the zip-out lining, quality of stitching) are all really pretty great for the price point. The only jacket that was clearly better for alpine sports was the Mountain Hardware offering which had an MSRP more than double this Columbia 3-in-1. The cut is wider than I would have liked. I am 6'1, 215 and the large is too big on me. ***updated after several days of use on slopes*** downgrading rating from a 4 to a 3. Here are the issues / problems I experienced with this jacket: 1) The sleeves aren't long enough. I found myself adjusting the cuffs after every run. This jacket would be much improved with a different cut pattern--needs to be less boxy in the body and longer in the sleeves. 2) The inner thermal layer doesn't fit especially well inside the shell, causing some awkward bunching. The inner liner should be significantly trimmer in both the torso and the arms. 3) There's no way to use the powder skirt with the liner zipped into the shell. You can unzip from the shell, attach the powder skirt, then zip the outer shell, but this seems to be a pretty significant design flaw. 4) In cold temperatures, both of the main zippers failed. As other reviewers mentioned, Columbia really needs to upgrade the zippers on this jacket. 5) In rain, the shell remained waterproof for well over an hour, but the sleeves started to absorb water around the two hour mark. The seams are not taped or waterproofed (not really expected at this price point). POSITIVES: I stayed plenty warm in this jacket in a variety of conditions. 34 degrees and sunny: the inner layer came off pretty quickly as the thermal layer was really TOO warm. I am comfortable in the outer shell with a thin sweater until temps get well below freezing. 8 degrees with wind: I was sufficiently warm, even on lift rides with a thin wool layer under the liner and shell.

Pleased with all but the zipper
This is my second winter with the coat, a large olive jacquard. The fit is ample for layering. I use this for the coldest days and have not swapped out the liner. It keeps me warm, dry, and blocks the wind. For the life of me, I can't understand why a more beefy zipper was not used. Other than the zipper, it is a great coat.

Versatile, stylish ski jacket.
Great value. The zip-out liner is super convenient for those warm spring days when you need only the shell. Should last many seasons. Would be perfect if the hood was detachable.

Comes with layers and breathable
This jacket is well made of quality material. Perhaps some may dislike the shiny look of its inside but that does not bother me. It looks cool, inside and outside. It works excellent for cold winter days and because of having two layers and under arm zippers it is very comfortable to adjust to the weather and temperature changes. Perfect for ski, snowboarding. I usually wear it during hiking on cold winter days.

3-in1 type, for all seasons ! col.whirli....
this is one of those flexible, 1 or 2 layers to wear, adjust and mix-and-match. 1.outter shell alone, for rainy season + cool summer 2.inner layer for early fall 3.combined for temps down to -5C or -10C 4.add a fleece (VEST is best) for temps below -11C /
