If your vehicle is not equipped with wiring for towing a trailer, CURT custom wiring is the ideal solution. A custom wiring harness -- also called a T-connector -- is a simple, plug-and-play electrical device that plugs into your automotive electric system and provides a standard, universal trailer wiring connection. This is done using two or more vehicle-specific, OEM-compatible connectors to plug into the taillight assembly, eliminating the need for cutting, splicing and soldering during installation. Custom wiring harnesses are made vehicle-specific, and while they are not available for all vehicles, they do offer one of the fastest, easiest and most secure ways to wire a vehicle for towing. This particular plug-in harness provides a 4-way flat connector socket and is designed to be a custom wiring harness to fit certain years of the Toyota Sienna (to verify your vehicle compatibility, see application info). It comes with all necessary wiring components to establish a reliable trailer wiring connection, as well as a dust cover to keep the connector clean when not in use. You have a picture in mind of your next destination -- maybe it's the boat landing at your favorite fishing spot, maybe it's a campsite that overlooks one of nature's masterpieces, or maybe it's the next big jobsite. However, turning that picture into a reality takes more than just daydreaming. It takes a solid connection and the right amount of power. CURT custom wiring is made with some of the most sophisticated technology in the industry and is designed to install with ease, giving you a long-lasting electrical connection for your towing hitch setup.

DUST COVER. To promote long-lasting use and weather resistance, this 4-pole trailer lighting wire harness comes with a rubber dust cover. It easily fits onto the 4-way flat connector when not in use, protecting it against the outdoor, exterior elements and internal corrosion. RELIABLE POWER. Plug and play, easy hookup
We like the Curt plug and play products for Toyota vehicles. This is the third one we have tried, and they work great. Easy installation. You do usually have to run a wire to the battery, so be prepared to get a little bit dirty. (On the Sienna van, we stole power from the little light in the back right side, so didn’t have to get under the car)

Works as advertised.
A company installed the first 2 of these in my vehicle, and they would only last 2 years each. Now i know why. The power wire was touching the exhaust, and the module was spliced in with those blue t clips and hanging from the left rear taillight and dangling between bumper plastic and frame. Not enough wire to get to module from top or bottom. Grrrrrr. Some advice, get this and do it yourself. Mount it on the inside of the vehicle to keep it sheltered from rain, and so it doesn’t bang around with every start or stop. Is not hard to install at all.

Fit was good, instructions are lacking
This fit our 2015 Toyota Sienna just fine. As others have said, I was expecting the difficulty in getting the wire under the van up to the battery. I jacked up the rear of the van to help some and use a fish tape in some spots. I had no idea where to mount the black box behind the paneling. When I decided on a place, the the peel and stick pad fell off immediately and had no stick. I don't know if it was because it was only 40 deg, but it felt more like it was old adhesive. So I zip-tied it to a bracket there. Hopefully it doesn't bang around too much. Also, the red fuse holder/wire provided was not a very flexible plastic and I felt like it was going to break just closing the cap. Directions were ok, but they were just tiny black and white images and I could barely see what was going on. This is 2022 I expect a lot more. I guess that's why we all watch a video online first, but the instructions should hold their own.

Works well, but read this before installing
Installed in Toyota Sienna 2015. Overall, good kit but things you should know... 1) ***Install control unit on passenger side of car*** There's more room, there's a car jack compartment to store the cable when not being used, and you can use electricity from the right outlet (see next point). This means running the green wire to the left blinker and yellow wire to the right blinker. This will later require you to cut the green/yellow wires coming out of the control unit and switch them or your blinkers will be backwards. Not hard to do with simpler wire couplers. 2) If your vehicle has a 12V outlet (cigarette style) in the passenger rear next to the car jack compartment, then you can connect the black/white to that instead of running a wire all the way to the front of the vehicle. Way easier!!! You can either tap into them using a simple T-Tap, or order a male 12V plug, attach the wires to that, and "plug it in" when you need it. I went with a T-Tap since it's easier. Don't forget to install the fuse that comes with the kit on the black wire. Note: This is the 12V cigarette style outlet, not the 120V prong outlet. Your car may have both. Don't use the wrong one! 3) The instructions are useless. Luckily, lots of videos online. The only wires I cut were on the unit to switch yellow/green after it comes out of device. Pretty easy install overall.

Installation videos help a lot (2015 Sienna)
Connecting the wiring into the brake lights wasn't too bad. Watching a couple of installation videos helped a lot. I connected the bulk of the wiring to the driver side like it was designed for. I don't have a good way to get under the vehicle to run the wire, so I ran it under the trim on the driver's side. I didn't see a video that showed how to get the wire through the firewall to the engine but I read elsewhere that someone got it through a grommet. Here's how I did it: I found where the bulk of the wiring from the passenger compartment goes through the firewall (photo 1). There are seams in the insulation, so I peeled it back to the right to expose the grommet and noticed a round opening on one side (photo 2). I pushed a narrow screwdriver through and found that the opening leads to an otherwise unused protrusion on the engine side of the grommet (photo 3). I cut an X in the end of the protrusion, and because the wire is fairly stiff, was able to feed it through the opening in the grommet. Feeding it through the rest of the way to the battery was no trouble.

Great module! Check your year and model!
+ Works great in 2014 Toyota Sienna LE after difficult install. - Triple check your year and model - Use VIN number at toyota.com. + NOW I see Amazon had SE in "my garage" instead of LE. My fault for not checking that. + CURT's web site agrees the 2014 SE and 2014 LE use different connectors. + I also see in Q & A someone had a 2015 LE with different connectors than 2014 LE. + The power line with fuse that Curt included with this was just long enough and Curt included plenty of tie wraps to help. It reaches front battery, under van, up existing grommet hole into trunk, and over to left stop light area where module can be placed. This part of install was as easy as could be, though best done with a full car lift and a fair amount of patience. - You may be tempted to tap into the 12V access point in back for power. Don't forget that shares a fuse with your GPS, phone chargers, and any add-in DVD players you have plugged in. It may work on your trailer or with LED lights, then if you borrow a U-Haul with extra marker lights, running lights, and hit the brakes you could blow that little fuse. I decided to give the lights their own dedicated line as recommended. + Great quality! + Solid unit, well sealed, durable cables. + Much smaller than the space available for installation.

good diy trailer wiring conversion
easy diy hook up of trailer wiring to Toyota. converts to 3 wire and does it in a simple and not fuss, cut, solder way. comes with all the required materials to get the job done quickly although you should not expect it to take 20 minutes but rather a couple of hours depending to the number of pieces of interior trim you need to remove to get access. has worked well for over a year and expect that it will continue to do so. a little pricey but I guess that is the price for simplicity

Hard to install power line
Worked great on our 2015 Toyota Sienna. They expect you to run the power line all the way under the car to the battery. we have AWD, so I could not find a spot to run the wire, and it seemed short. I ended up jumping power from the cigarette lighter in the back, which only has power when the car is in acc or is on, but it was better than nothing.
