A CURT custom original equipment vehicle-to-trailer connector (sometimes called a T-connector) is a simple, plug-and-play electrical device that eliminates the need for cutting, splicing and soldering when installing vehicle-to-trailer wiring. Most vehicles do not come ready to tow. Unless your vehicle has a towing package, it is probably not equipped with a trailer wiring connector. This is where CURT's OE vehicle-to-trailer connectors come into play. A custom wiring connector uses a single original equipment plug to plug into a special socket provided by your vehicle. Though this option is not available on every vehicle, some automotive manufacturers design their vehicles to be easily equipped for towing by supplying a socket, integrated into the vehicle's electrical system, to readily accept a custom wiring connector. With a CURT custom OE connector, there is no need to tap into the taillight assembly because a special socket is already provided. This special custom vehicle-to-trailer wiring connector provides a multi-function connector socket. It is designed to plug into a circular 7-prong OEM socket and replace a factory-equipped 7-way connector with a 7-way RV blade and 4-way flat. It specifically offers a custom wiring option for a variety of vehicles (see application info to verify fitment with your vehicle). This multipurpose socket comes with its own backup alarm, a mounting bracket and all necessary mounting hardware for a complete installation. CURT custom vehicle-to-trailer wiring connectors are designed to be long-lasting and simple to install. They come with dust covers to keep your connector clean when not in use.

DURABLE CONSTRUCTION. For long-lasting use and a reliable connection, the housing of this dual 7-pin and 4-pin trailer wiring socket is made from durable black plastic that will never rust or corrode. USCAR-SPECIFIC. This trailer wiring harness socket is designed for specific vehicles with an industry-standard USCAR socket. WEATHER-RESISTANT. This two-way trailer wiring socket is designed to outlast weather exposure. The 7-way RV blade socket has a spring-loaded dust cover that keeps the connection points dry and protected when not in use. BACKUP ALARM. This dual trailer wiring harness connector features an integrated backup alarm that sounds at 97 decibels when your vehicle is in reverse. This promotes safety for your family, friends and others in the immediate vicinity. VERSATILE DESIGN. This dual-output connector is a great upgrade for a variety of vehicles with a USCAR socket. It provides two standard trailer wiring sockets, a 4-way flat and an RV blade 7-way socket.

EDIT Does not fit/function like advertised EDIT
I will update my review if I am proven wrong/ends up being my problem. Edit; main edit at the bottom. Up and down product describes a direct, plug and play for my Y/M/M, fit. Instructions provided were essentially "remove old one, put on new one" with no information about how to remove the old one, no detail about how to put the new one on. It's five half sentences on a poorly xeroxed piece of paper. To be fair, the connector really only goes on one way, and some variation exists between submodels of vehicle. However, these instructions are a joke. In the end, I put it together the obvious way; the only way it fit. Hopped in and put it in reverse, no alarm. For the last week I have had to find the time and / or money to do a diagnostic here. My rationale behind a 3 star instead of a 1 star or 5 star? I do not believe it is a 1 star because I have not yet determined if the issue is with ??? that I did installing it. The reason for a 3 star is it is clearly not plug and play as advertised and its instructions are so poor that I might as well have been on my own so if I *did* mess up the install, that's sorta on the quality of instructions for the product. The unit is slick and compact, and if it really did / does do the advertised functions... great. But the trip there is not fun. My my. I have to eat my words. A friend of mine came out today, and we made quite a mess testing every single wire and contact pin and reading dozens of diagrams. We started by finding that no signal got from the 7 pin to the reverse signal. Defective unit? To be safe, we then checked the harness that patched between the outlet on the truck itself to the 7 pin adapter and find that no, no reverse signal there. Then we checked the outlet on the truck itself, and found no signal. This took us about 1.75 hours. THEN we finally found a diagram that pointed to a relay under the hood. For some reason, a previous owner had decided to remove the relay that controlled the trailer back up lights. So the entire time, that villain Previous Owner had sabotaged me from the get go. I owe the company apologies for having failed on my part to check on this. The adapter works great. EDIT 2! This was installed on a stock height 2002 F150, with the trailer package. It sticks out past the bumper and receiver (I don't leave my hitch installed)... well about a week ago the wife was rear ended by a Nissan Maxima. The car ran off but I could see in the footage in the dash cam that it's hood folded up and clearly had some front end damage; the truck itself has a *slightly* folded bumper and a terribly folded up wiring harness bracket. I expected the unit to have destructed but it functions just fine despite an impact that folded the bumper and wrecked the front end of the other car.

CURT 57101 Dual-Output Vehicle-Side 7-Pin, 4-Pin Connectors
installed on a 2015 jeep Grand Cherokee ltd and it works great. Note: useful tip, I found this info in multiple places that jeep G.C. models from 2014 to mid year 2018 have the wiring harness which is under the facia of the rear bumper. You might have to have a jeep or Chrysler dealer enable it. We did not have to have it enabled and it worked right away. note: I did not want to drill mounting holes in the tube of the hitch so with a hack saw i cut slots (about the width of the SS hose clamps) on the bent edge of the mounting bracket and then used 2 large stainless steel hose clamps to fasten the bracket to the hitch tube. We especially like the beeping when in reverse. I think all large vehicles should have this!

Fits a 2018 Jeep Grand Cherokee Laredo, even though not listed. Dealer has to enable lights.
This fits my 2018 Grand Cherokee Laredo perfectly, even though it is not listed as compatible. The dealer must enable the trailer lights before it will work. Install steps: 1 Buy two screws, captive nuts, and washers from a hardware store. 2. Bracket will fit existing holes without issue., so proceed with mounting. 3. Attach adapter to bracket using included hardware. 4. Remove the dust cap from the writing harness connector. 5. Apply dialectic grease. Get it from any auto parts store. 6. Plug in the connector. 7. Visit a dealer to have the software added that will enable the towing package ($65). Done The backup beeper is not terribly loud, but it is OK,.

Easy to install!
The bumper mount bracket was okay. It needs more development for under the bumper installation. I felt good with the results. It worked great. My first trailer pull with great success.
