So nice
I am 80yo but still ride and do my own barn work with bad arthritis. These shorts permit that. They move with the body and support a formerly broken back, hip replacements and basic bone degeneration. It lets me live. Only problem is getting them fix quickly to use bathroom so up a size ?

Runs small
This item was way too small as a medium and therefore very uncomfortable for my body, five foot, 125 pounds.

The only running shorts I wear
I've worn CW-x Stabilyx Ventilator shorts for several years, and just bought a couple more pair. I got the navy which is a nice change up from the black. I'm so happy they're offering more colors these days. I'm a fan of compression -- I like the support when running, and these are very comfortable. The long length ensures support for the entire upper leg -- thighs and hamstrings. Note that I don't find the size chart very helpful. I'm 5'5" and 120-125 lbs, and the Medium shorts are plenty tight for me. In fact, I wear the tights and capris in a Large and get plenty of support. (I'm not a fan of capris as they can cut into my calf, so I'm sure a Medium in the capris would be uncomfortable.) As I mentioned, I've worn this model short for several years -- probably 5-6 years. What I've noticed about the new versions, such as the Charcoal and this Navy is that the primary fabric is slightly shinier and shows the sweat more. Not ideal but I'm trying to live with it. Just ordered the Fig version (burgundy) and anticipate those will be even worse in that respect!

Good compression
I bought these to wear under my scrubs at work. I have just returned to work after 2 hip surgeries. They do provide great compression however I had ordered 2 pair and one of them got a hole in the seam near the mesh. I was able to patch it but for the amount of money that I paid I just feel like they should hold up better. However with that being said, I’ve tried other brands and nothing compares to the level of compression that these provide.

Best compression shorts and I tried lots of others
I needed to start wearing compression shorts for running my dog in agility since I have a history of pulling my hamstrings and recently pulled my gluteus medius which was surprisingly painful. Ordered lots of different styles and kept these. They are designed intelligently for their purpose, wear well with no riding up and keep my ill-behaved muscles in check. I ordered the small based on the size chart but returned them for a medium which I am much happier with. The small was likely the best compression for me but just too tight to be comfy. The medium offers support and comfort. I am 120 pounds and just under 5 feet. They are pricey but well worth avoiding another muscle strain and the consequent downtime and rehab. 11/10/20 edit: Five years later and this pair of compression shorts is still going strong. I love them so much I just ordered two more. I was prepared to pay the $72 I paid for my first pair but was thrilled to get them for $45 this time! When I tried the "Buy it again" option they were no longer available but then I chose "Visit the CW-X Store" and found them (same CW-X item number). I've lost 10 pounds since I wrote this review in 2015 but they still fit great. I often wear them under leggings for chilly hikes. Always hang dry and these compressions will last you....mine look brand new.

Almost perfect
I bought these compression shorts to run my first marathon. They were great and I felt that I kept my legs for longer throughout the race due to the strategically placed bands on the short. I scoured the internet reading all I could on shorts that would focus their stability on my IT band as I was afraid that if it gave up during the race that would be the end of my first marathon. However, after searching high and low I decided on these and I was not disappointed. The reason that I gave it 4 stars instead of 5 is that the mesh panels in front seem a bit fragile. I am very careful not to snag them on anything because one wrong turn and the shorts are ruined. Of course at this price, you want to be careful. I would definitely get these again. They run true to size. I wear a size 6/8 pant more on the 8 I weigh 145lb and I purchased the medium and I was very happy with the compression amount yet they were not too constricted. Good luck to all on your runs and races.

Love every CW-X product I've ever purchased
Love every CW-X product I've ever purchased. I have several capri and long running tights, but finally purchased the shorts in preparation for an upcoming marathon in Honolulu. I'm about 5'4", 123 lbs, and the small fits me well. The only thing I don't like about CW-X tights is the big seam in the back (if I forget to put some Glide where it hits on my lower back, I'll get a nasty chafe after about 7-8 miles) and the lack of a convenient place to put my phone. They do have a little pocket in the front, but it's not good for much. I guess there's only so much you can do with a compression product. In regards to previous post about the durability of the mesh part, that part is fine. The review made it sound as though it were fragile like pantyhose. It's fine. Don't let that hold you back from trying these.

Best compression shorts you can buy!
I've been running in CW-X shorts/capris/tights for years. For me they are the best compression wear available and they last for years! But they are getting more difficult to find, so I am thankful I can still order on Amazon. I am not sure the Ventilator short is really any better/cooler than the non-ventilating shorts.
