Fix that leaky shower diverter. It’s easy.

After 20 years the shower diverter in guest bathroom was leaking badly & lost a lot of flow to shower head. This kit fixed it like new. Not a bad idea to just replace the spout & diverter. Old spout has to come off anyway. You’ll need plumbers tape (Teflon tape), a large rag to protect spout during removal, and a wide jaw pipe wrench, pliers or vice grips that open large enough to grab old spout. User tip: easy job if you a little handy & have right tools on hand. You will need to remove old spout. Not hard, but won’t come off by hand. Wrap a large rag or towel around it so you won’t damage the finish on spout. Using a large pipe wrench or large pliers or vice grips turn the spout counter clockwise. (Lefty loosey) it should come off easily. Follow instructions to take out old diverter parts and install new ones. IMPORTANT: Clean off old plumbers tape on water outlet and put on several layers of new Teflon tape. Screw it back in place clockwise until tight and pointing straight down. Your done.

Not as complicated as it looks.

The family is on a budget, and we needed the bathtub spout to be fixed asap, I'm not a plumber but after looking at a install video on the product, I managed to fix the problem.

Use this once before

I used it once before and I liked it so much I brought it again when I started having issues again but now I cannot get the average one off. So I don't like this product?

Great item

We were very pleased to find this item to save us money and time. For some reason, this little piece on our bathroom spigot breaks every year. We normally just replace the whole contraption. Now we know we can just replace this little piece. Please note, for our situation, the white plastic piece that comes with the package did not fit our spigot. But our current white plastic piece still worked and was able to receive the metal pull. So it worked just fine.

Did not fit - until sanding it down

Did not fit my spout, and my old plastic piece was broken so it wasn't an option to use that with the new washer. Considering how inexpensive the plastic is, they should include 2 or 3 different sizes to ensure compatibility with a wide range of spouts. Especially since this kit costs 3 times what it costs at the hardware store. UPDATE: Using sandpaper and some trial and error, sanding down the front, the back, and even the washer (slightly) to make this fit in my spout, it works. I doubt most people will want to bother attempting that.

Worked for me!

Yes...my shower didn't work for a year, I found this on Amazon and fixed it by myself in no time, easy to install and it worked! I can finally use the shower again

the piece that the rubber seal goes in is larger ...

the piece that the rubber seal goes in is larger than the original and would not fit in the spout so all i could was use the rubber seal to put in the original kit . would not recomend

Does not pull up or drop correctly

You can pull up on it and it won't engage fully to have the water leave the shower head .. as well it does not drop down once the water is off
