Why didn’t I buy this years ago!
This thing is great. Easy to install, hardest part was tapping two blank holes on the engine.

With this starter my snowblower starts right up

Quality is good, function is equal to OE
I used this to add electric start to my snow blower. Some consolidation of oe parts is likely, I had to make some additional modifications to my engine's air shroud beyond the cut out lines. Works as expected. Had to shim with washers for optimal gear engagement, not an issue with the product. The design of the Tecumseh engine required head bolts to be removed to remove the air shroud, so it's not an undertaking for the faint of heart. Replacing an existing starter should be easy.

Did not last even a full season.
The starter broke down the first snow season. The drive gear e-clip was destroyed and flew out of the assembly. I put a new one in and the starter worked a while. The second season it stopped working again. I have to knock 3 star off the rating.

Works on my 30 yrs old NOMA 5/22 with Tecumseh HSSK50 engine
The media could not be loaded. See the photos and my video. For those of you have the Tecumseh HSSK50 engine, it doesn't matter what brand, mine is NOMA and it was made around 1990. There is a very important note I want to share with you, you have to slide the starter mounting bracket BEHIND the silver color metal plate of your snow blower (see photo). There was a reason why there was a washer sitting behind that in the first place. When I first installed it, I put the starter on top and there was some gear grinding noise when I hit the button. Even I sprayed some white lithium grease on the gears, it didn't help. The issue went away when I reinstalled it behind the metal plate. Also, you need to have tap and die kit to tap the 2 holes at the bottom. For those of you buying this starter, I am pretty sure you are serious DIY people and you should have the kit in your garage. Remember to use the blue color Loctite 242 coz the vibration will loosen it and the starter can potentially strip the gear in long run. Loctite 262 red color is not good in case you need to take it off in the future. The only complain I have with this starter is the cable (see photo). It's a bit short and very tight for me, give me 1" more would be ideal. Overall it is working perfectly, just watch the video... One push and it started!! I don't know why I waited for 30 years.
