Looks Great

My kitchen is done in wine theme and I think of her as the wine maiden.

NOT what is pictured in the official "product image!"

Wow! Am I about to poop on a Tuscano? Absolutely! Okay, so look at the image. See the shades implied? See how "rustic" it looks in the image? That is a painting technique that Tuscano, and all kinds of artists have used for centuries. It makes the item look "aged." Kind of cool, right? Now (please) look at what they sent from China! WTH man? This is just (spray?) painted flat gray, or maybe the resin is gray, but this is ugly and boring, with no implied shadows painted on to give it depth and texture. It looks like something you get from "Color Me Mine" (or any of those "paint-it-yourself" pottery shops). If I wanted to paint it myself, I would not have looked at the official product image and said "That's for me!" Save your money and get something else! Tuscano dropped the ball on this one. Of course they don't manufacture these things. They get them made from cheap resins in China (well, duh). But at least they might have someone in quality control verifying that what they show on Amazon is what you get when YOU spend your money. Don't be disappointed. Skip this and get something else. Truly a disappointment. PLEASE NOTE that any shadows implied in my "real life unretouched photograph" are simply that of normal 3D shapes. This is one Tuscano piece not embellished with a shadow wash like most of their pieces. It is flat, ugly, light battleship gray.

It's quite a conversation piece. Some think it's a woman and others think it's a man but either way it's a nice piece. It's very lightweight and it hangs beautifully in my kitchen. I have been thinking about doing a Grapes theme for a long time and this just may be the start of me finally getting around to doing that. Female version of “The Green Man” type masonry. Love it.

I have been looking for a female version of The Green Man type fresco to put in my garden. This is exactly what I was looking for. I believe it is resin but looks exactly like unglazed clay. Very evocative of the images all over Europe. I only grow roses but she will preside over them.

A Grape Harvest Goddess

I have always loved Design Toscano products. This did not disappoint. It’s lightweight and the features of the Grape Harvest Goddess are nicely detailed. The system for hanging the sculpture on the wall requires careful measurement to get it just right but once it’s up it is very secure. A charming piece, particularly for a wine lover.
