Try pairing with tights and roll-up denim shorts to complete this tomboy-chic vibe. Dr. Martens is the stuff of legends. It all began near Munich, Germany in 1945 when Dr. Klaus Maertens injured his foot in a skiing accident in the Bavarian Alps. To make walking easier during the healing process, he designed a shoe with an air-cushioned sole. Using old rubber tires, he constructed soles that had air trapped within closed compartments. He showed his prototype to his engineer/inventor friend, Dr. Herbert Funck, and together they decided to develop and produce the shoes. Not only did the shoe solve the doctor's immediate problem, but it also started to sell well in Germany. By 1959 the two decided that they needed a company to produce and distribute the shoes, then called Dr. Maertens, in other parts of the world. At first, many manufacturers rejected the concept of an air cushioned sole as a short-lived gimmick. However, the R. Griggs Group, located in the village of Wollaston in England, decided to go along with the idea by creating the first work boot with the revolutionary sole. On the first of April 1960, the first cherry red eight-eyelet work boot was produced and named 1460. To sell the brand name better in England, the name was anglicized to Dr. Martens. The range was branded AirWair and the rest is history. See more

They’re Docs!
First time getting the vegan option. They are great there is a break in period wear them around the house and short errands But once they broken in they are incredible I’ve owned my fair share of Doc martins boots and shoes over the past 35 or so years or so

Too wide for my feet
These are not as comfortable as I'd like because they are too wide and my feet slip around in them. But I get a lot of compliments and they are perfect for work. They seem durable and don't scratch easily. Overall happy with them.

Too big and I have not heard back from the seller after having sent off the package to return
This was too wide for my feet. I usually wear size 5 1/2 in women’s and I ordered the smallest size available (adult 4). I need to contact them about my return. The returns package was scanned at the UPS store on Jan 17, 2023 just a few days after I had received the shoes and my refund still has not been processed.

Beautiful but heavy
I bought a pair of black and a pair of red to see which one looked best in person. They’re both pretty cool, but I noticed the black pair has an insole that cuts off halfway down the footbed. The red one has a black insole the entire way down. There are other differences to the manufacturing, which is really odd. Wish England still made these, as they were so consistently well made then. I’m not sure I’ll keep either yet - they are vegan and rainproof, which is fabulous. I love Docs but I love animals, too, so am trying to avoid leather. But they are really heavy, even more so than a pair of Doc brogue boots I have. They do crease very easily - I’ve worn the red pair for an hour or so around my apartment and they creased in that time. I think that means they’d break in pretty quickly. They are attractive in the clunky DM way that we love :-). Just so heavy!

Finally have docs again!
I've been looking for a decent vegan shoe, something that isn't cheaply made or will wear out quickly. These are well made and fit exactly like you'd expect Docs to fit. I'm extremely happy with my purchase.

Larger than same size from 2014… ?!
Bought the exact same style in the same size but different color in 2014. The new pair (black/left) is significantly larger. I usually wear women’s 7.5 or 7 (but occasionally 8) and both of these are 7s (UK 5 EU 38). The difference is enough that I might return them.

they are painful to walk in due to the width of the ...
Man, I just have no luck when it comes to Docs. I am a size 9.5 US Men's. If I get the size 9, they are painful to walk in due to the width of the shoe. They are much thinner than my foot. I have no idea what the break in time might be but I'm not really willing to take the risk in the even that they don't stretch out enough an I am stuck with a shoe I can't wear due to size. So I got the size 10 and they are definitely as better fit but they are also just slightly too big. I bought a pair of Docs boots in size 10 and I have the same problem of them being just slightly too large which is not too much of a problem except for the fact that it makes my foot slide and ends up pulling the insole off and crumpling it up towards the middle of the boot. I am afraid the same thing will happen with these shoes but I am willing to give it a shot. I think maybe some insoles or something might fix the problem so I need to look into that as well.

Real deal, slick price.
Maybe I was misreading something, but I think the sizing is a bit off with the descriptions. The 9m was being shipped as 8 men’s. I had to send two pairs back but I think they fixed it. The US 9/UK 8 fit true to a 8.5-9 mens. I have the ones I wanted now and they are better than I expected, these are a staple for my wardrobe now. Thank you

LOVE these shoes
Have been searching high and low to find these shoes in my size, as they have been sold out everywhere I’ve looked. Though I found my size, they are still a bit big - I’m a women’s US 7, and they fit more like a 7 1/2 (If you also have narrow feet just be aware of this). Otherwise I have zero complaints about these shoes! So happy that Doc Martens offers a line of vegan shoes to wear.

Great pair of shoes with quality you expect from Dr Matens
I purchased these Dr Martens vegan shoes for my hubby, he's quite heavy on footwear and has been wearing them daily for several months now. There is no sign of wear and soles look good as new. They are comfortable and stand up to the wet weather. I have a pair of vegan doc boots and can the same for them also.

Really smart and feel like they will last a long time
The leather is nice and soft and not as tough looking as the other 1461's with yellow stitching. It is annoying that Doc Martens don't do any half sizes, but it's definitely worth getting the one that's slightly bigger, just wear a thicker sock or insole, it's not worth the pain of cramped feet, especially since they are proving tough to wear in! Love the overall look of the shoe, smart and stylish and they feel good, strong quality.
