Worked great
This worked fantastic on my 67 Corvette's Muncie transmission. The fill plug had seized so badly that it broke off. I was doing a clutch and had the transmission out of the car, so I drilled the plug out and re-threaded it using this product. I even put an additional drain plug in and used this to drill and thread that, too! It worked so good that I can now drain and fill the transmission while it's in the car. Of course, I took the side cover off and cleaned out the the transmission, flushed, and refilled with new gear oil.

Great kit for drilling/tapping 1/8th npt
Used it to drill/tap an end cap on my fuel line so I could add a 1/8npt spot to attach a secondary fuel pressure sensor. Awesome!

Decent
It’s a decent bit for home use. I would not expect to use for everyday work. Use with some cutting oil and it really works well.

Worked for me
Sharp and functional! Needed to tap two 1/4" holes in a magnesium/aluminum case. Drill bit was sharp and cut the holes quickly. The tap was just as sharp and threaded nicely. Glad I added this to my tool box.

Tap and drill bit
The drill bit is the cheapest drill but I’ve seen. The tap worked okay after I used another drill bit to make the hole. Got the job done but not the best quality.

Twist drill is fine, Tap is terrible.
Hey, it's cheap...but the tap is terrible. I couldn't even get through 1/4" aluminum . Had to finish it with an old Greenlee tap. Drill is worth it.

Tap is not good quality. I got what I needed done, but barely, and now it's no good.
I should have paid attention to the negative reviews. I bought this because I had to drill and tap two holes in a piece of 1/4" mild steel. The drill bit went through OK (I started out with a small bit and worked my way up to this one, as is the norm, and the bit still had a good edge on it after the two holes). The tap, however, is garbage. I got the first hole tapped and there was very noticeable damage to the tap. I managed to get the second hole tapped as well, but it was a struggle, and then the tap was difficult to remove from the hole because the damaged threads on it were trying to ruin the new threads I had just made. Remember, this was in 1/4" mild steel. I couldn't imagine trying to use it in cast iron, or anything harder than brass, really. The tap is no longer usable. I got my two holes done, but barely.

Great Combination
Drilled and tapped a hole on top of Manifold (F150) for a Heater Hose fitting. The Manifold is made from aluminum and this combination worked perfectly for me, just remember to lubricate both the hole and the tap. Did the repair with the manifold cover still on the vehicle by using an 18" torque wrench with a long extension and 17mm socket, worked like a charm. Used the socket and torque wrench because I was not able to find a suitable sized tap wrench that will fit the taps 1/2 inch square end. Many tap wrenches claim to accept 1/2 inch taps but do not open wide enough to insert a 1/2 inch square peg. I found this out the hard way and now have two new tap wrenches in my tool box. John Perry

Inferior Quality
I have been a maintenance mechanic for many years and needed this size to add to my tools. Unfortunately I was extremely disappointed with the quality of steel in this tap. Using the supplied drill and proper threading oil it failed. After only having 7-8 threads in one flute broke with very little pressure. Look at the color in the break, definitely low quality steel or bad hardening process. I will be returning it for a full refund and look for something better.

Wrong size packaged in listed size container.
Good bit. Good tap. Just be cautious of the size. I ordered 1/4npt kit and got a 1/8npt kit. The package even said 1/4. Luckily it was smaller than I needed so I could resize larger, but if it was in reverse I could have been detrimental as I was drilling a diff housing for ARB air locker. Just double triple check before use.

Drill broke first time within a second
Might have "America" in the name, but it's not of the quality you expect from a made in America product. The tap worked ok.
