Woah it’s small
I was hoping to use for whole class demonstration but it’s very small. Would be perfect for each student to have one of these though.

Wonderful but it broke
This was really nice for our first grader to learn math concepts, but the pin that hold the beam to the stand broke. Not sure how to contact the company to get a replacement part. Just be careful with it.

Decent, inexpensive, and portable
I got this to replace an old and brittle Right Start Math balance that was starting to break. I wasn't sure on the size of this balance do I am posting the comparison with the RSM in the back and this balance in the front. Overall we like the size. It is easy for my 6 year old to use and it is small enough to take on trips and easier to store. Having the weights on the base makes them harder to pick up. The edges of the peg aren't really large enough to hold the weights so when adding multiple weights, previous ones fall off. You can hang up to 5 weights on each peg, except the 10's peg, which can only hold 4.

Would happily have paid more for improvements
Not bad for the price, but I do wish it came with an extra weight or two, because children lose things... and I do wish it came with a slim storage case, as it just comes in a zippered baggie and it's an odd shape, so finding a suitable storage case that's long, slim, flat, yet wide enough to accomodate the green stand would be tricky. Would have paid more for those.

Pretty good tool for teaching math
This is a pretty good math manipulative that you can use to teach anywhere from teaching numbers, comparing numbers , addition and subtraction. It was pretty easy to assemble

Brilliant
I loved engineering and physics when I was in school. This is a simple machine to teach my son leverage mechanism and math while he is learning multiplication. After he got the concept he started saying “10 divided by 3 equals 3 with remainder of 1”…. I said…”no no no this mechanism doesn’t…” Well, he proved me wrong. He plugged it in and it worked!!! Brilliant.

What I needed
We have the larger balance and it was just too bulky for our homeschool space. I found this and ordered it and it does a great job at being small and useful! Easily stored.

It’s ok it does what I needed but I wished I’d gone for the original more expensive well known learning scale
