SO CREATIVE AND FUN

I purchased these to have fun with my granddaughter who is 4. She loves making up stories or having me make up stories, or taking turns adding to a story! These are just like that but are great story starters and pictures to give us ideas about what to add to our stories! Because stories we make up can go in numerous directions, these cards can be used over and over again to create varying stories! We have had a lot of fun with them...esp. when we make up silly stories using our pictures!

Love them!

These have been such a hit since they arrived last week, with both my four year old and two year old. We have used them at the dinner table to tell stories to each other just by looking at the beautiful art. Such a fun and wonderful way to bring our family together to talk and create and tell stories to each other. Both my children feel so proud when they’ve told their little story. Definitely going to be completing the collection with the other sets and I do hope you create even more!

Parents of child seemed pleased with gift.

Cards are colorful. Four year old didn’t understand their use the day gifted, however his parents thought they’d all enjoy them once they start to use them.

Just ok for us

My kids liked them but the are just a quickie activity for us. Beautiful illustrations, but maybe could benefit from some categories. Such main characters, place, objects, problem stacks and the child would draw one or two from each category. Would be more cards but I would be willing to pay more for this format by this illustrator.

Learning with kids

Like many previous reviewers I am from science/engineering background and making up store isn't my strong suit. I bought this one set with some reservation but was having an refreshing experience even myself. The set contains cards that have some repeating elements. I, along with my 6 year old, immediately went into sorting those items out and trying to link the cards in a logical kind of way. That was when we try to tell stores in turn with free picking of cards - which I thought as the easiest way to introduce the game. There were two problems - first, as some other reviews pointed out, only limited number of "logic" were used, and second, everyone's too busy forming their own stories and weren't listening to each other. After a few changing courses we were then folding down cards, shuffling them and telling from random order. Almost magical things started to happen. First I learned story can be linked from things that weren't exactly on the picture, then the 4 year old started to introduce funny pieces from her other books and soon we were all laughing and having a great time. We are not playing this game very frequently but I think it will have a place to stay in the play room or in future trips. I will get more sets as well but seems they've risen in price in December.

Creative, educational, and fun!

Of the different games we have, Candyland, Memory, Go Fish, Guess Who, and even most of the apps on our iPhone, this is our favorite one. My three year old and I both love this game, her for the entertainment, and me both for it's educational value and the amount of fun we have playing it. I felt that I wasn't very good at making up stories, but my daughter was always asking for a new story. This game has helped us both become far better story tellers. I am amazed at the stories that both of us are able to make up. If you want to encourage your child to love reading, this is a great place to give them a love for stories. If they love something, they will be very motivated to learn. It improves their memory as you have the kids repeat stories. And their creativity just blossoms. I can't recommend this highly enough. Rather than take a lot of heavy books on the road, I take this small box of cards. It does take up a lot of space when you actually play, so it is better to spread them out on a hotel bed rather than in the airplane. I bought the Fairy Tale Mix-up for a friend, and she said the card didn't have as many different items in each picture. She found it was harder to make up new stories without the various items that the Forest Story Cards contained.

Amazing for Waldorf or unschooling

We are a kindergarten Waldorf homeschool family and these cards are amazing for circle and story time! My daughter loves them, they've lasted a while year so far with a 2 and 5 year old, we even gifted a set to her best friend!
