Very happy with this light!
I purchased this light in 11/2015, but it took me a while to get it put up. Not because the light was any problem, but because I became too busy to do it. Anyway, I needed an outdoor light, specifically solar powered so I wouldn't have to pay an extra power bill and an electrician to wire a new light for me. I needed to light up the gate at my driveway entrance. I hired a buddy to help me put it up. This is what we used: a 22'x6"x6" square post, 1 bag of Quickcrete, and everything that came packaged with the light. First, we attached the solar panel to the top of the post. Next we attached the panel that you snap the body of the light onto directly under the solar panel. We connected the solar panel to the body with the cord plugged in & then we set the lighting sensitivity. I chose the all night dusk to dawn setting with brightness upon motion detection. Lastly, we set the post about 4-5 feet in the ground with the Quickcrete and left it alone. The first night, it didn't work! And unfortunately, my buddy got very busy (as did I) the next two weeks so we couldn't take it down to see what went wrong. Finally, two weeks later, we got the light down and decided it must need a battery - only to discover that I never plugged the battery in! LOL!!! And my buddy has never let me live that down... Haha! That night, I couldn't wait for it to get dark. I walked out on my front porch (which is at least 80 feet away from the gate) and I could see the light was on! It looked like a bright flashlight at first, but when I drove to it, the light was surprisingly bright, even on the dim dusk to dawn setting. I could clearly see the entire area I had wanted lit up. Next, I got out of my car to test the motion sensitivity and it worked great again! This time, the floodlight came on and it was very impressive for such a small solar powered light. The brightness was much better than I was expecting. I live out in the country in Alabama, so I was concerned about the weather. This light has been up & working for over 2 months now & it seems to be holding up very well with our unpredictable weather. I hope it makes it through the hot & humid summer, as well as the next cold winter. If anything changes, I'll come back and update my review. My honest opinion is: this is a great light for the money. I would buy it again & again. In fact, I plan to order a few more to put around my house & eventually my business. This light is very easy to install. Just make sure the battery is connected before you put it up. ;-) Lol! Happy lighting!

so far, so good
I installed a pair of these solar flood lights back in July 2016 and so far, so good. I was able to install the main light/sensor/battery unit semi-undercover (under the soffits) with the solar panel component mounted to corrugated steel roofing. Both the light and sensor ball are able to be rotated independently in different dimensions which affords many different placement options. For the first light, rather than mount flat as intended, I chose to use a plastic conduit clamp around the neck of the light to attach it. This enabled me to position it in area with restricted space, and also to semi-conceal the unit rather than make it a 'feature'. The second unit I mounted flat as intended and simply rotated light and sensor to appropriate angles. As far as the solar panel assembly, I was impressed to see the mounting bracket appeared to made of aluminum and shouldn't rust. For the first install, rather than use the supplied screws to attach the bracket to my roofing, I chose to pop-rivet instead. I did stuff up on my first attempt by not attaching the solar panel to the bracket first - which meant the screws were not accessible. So make sure prior to attaching that you can secure everything! For the second install, I was able to re-purpose an existing roofing screw to attach the bracket. I drilled a hole dead center in the bracket so that the weight would be evenly distributed. Refer to photos attached. As far as wiring, the supplied cable to connect the panel was sufficient in length for my use-cases. My first install which was more on display given its placement at the main entrance I chose to wire in 'neatly'. Meaning I drilled a hole through the soffit and discreetly routed the wiring using cable clips and so forth from the solar panel to the light fixture. I did not want the cable to be on display hanging over the gutter. My second install I had no such requirements and simply directed the cable straight over the gutter and then routed it along using cable clips. As far as improvements - the "L" shape plug on the cable meant at least in my use-case a far bigger hole to drill in the soffit in order to thread it through. A silicon plug filler or equivalent would have been a nice touch to include. You can see in the first photo in the top right corner the cable and a blue plug I re-purposed to fill the big hole. Mounting hardware wise, a couple of strong stainless steel pop-rivets bundled also would be welcome - should one not want to use the included screws for attachment. One other design option I would like in future is to separate the sensor from the actual light. This would mean you could preemptively light locations in advance.
