I have actually received 8 pairs from this line of sunglasses, so my reviews will be very similar for the plastic styles and the same for the wire styles. As an Amazon Vine member I can order products at no, or little cost for evaluation and review. I say that in case you're wondering why I would get 8 pairs of $40 glasses that I thought were average or below average; it's because they didn't cost me very much. I have many pairs of sunglasses (we live in AZ where the sun burns out your eyeballs or something like that) and most are "quality pairs". A "quality" pair of sunglasses for me must have all or at least most of the following criteria: 1) A real glass lens or at least polycarbonate. These have plastic lenses, they'll be scratched up soon enough and they aren't the best optically. 2) Spring hinges. This is a minor cost, many very cheap sunglasses have them now and it makes them more comfortable and less likely to break. 3) UV protection coated lenses so that the sun doesn't blind me, these Foster Grant sunglasses do have that benefit. 4) A comfortable nose bridge, preferably not adjustable. I've found over the years that adjustable nose pieces tend to move and get uncomfortable after a while, whereas the molded-in plastic nose bridge is smoother and more comfortable. That's just me and my shaped face perhaps. The nose bridge on this pair is very comfortable. 5) Polarization is nice when needed, it's not always needed and sometimes gets in the way. These are not polarized. 6) Style. Almost all of the Foster Grant Sun Luv series is fashionable looks cool and looks like expensive sunglasses. Where these fail, in my opinion, is the cheapness of the plastic and hinges. If you've bought drug store sunglasses that squeak when you touch them or move the arms, that's the type of plastic and the type of hinges that comprise these sunglasses. They're very light, which is a good thing when you've used special materials to get that lightness, but these are light because they're made with inexpensive materials that are used at the minimal amount needed to be effective (at least that's my opinion). So why 3 stars? Because they look good, they have a UV coating which is very important and I need sunglasses to be everywhere I am, I often forget to have them with me so I need extra pairs. Each pair that I have worn so far, has elicited good comments from friends (with one exception, but it just didn't work with my face shape, not the fault of the sunglasses.) The plastic arms on this pair are flat and linear cut, meaning that they have sharp edges (appearance-wise, you won't get cut). If you look at some lenses that are in vogue lately, and you see the reflective "flat" lenses. These arms are blue but if you look closely. you'll see that they're just like dark tinted lenses and you can see through them. These are matched with a very nice matte, again flat, frame. The look is very modern and neat. The lenses are a very nice and reflective blue, which is the color that I use on most of my better glasses. Blue just works for me. If you know what you're getting, you won't be disappointed and I pretty much guarantee you'll look good and get positive comments.
