Much safer than standard pattern bits
What makes this type of flush trim bit so much better is the safety and quality of the cut. The safety is a huge bonus because it is far less likely to grab and ruin your project (or worse, pull your hand into the tool!). It cuts very slow, gentle and clean. I feel like an idiot for not switching to this type of pattern bit sooner. I use it to cut 1.75" thick maple on a router table using a template taped and screwed to the material. You should get the Freud 75-508 if your material is less than 1.25" (only get as tall a tool as necessary). Also, the double sided tissue tape I use is Intertape DCT101A (I think) that I buy from MacMurray Pacific (product #591). If anyone knows of a reasonably priced equivalent on Amazon, let me know.

Chews through wood cleanly.
Used this bit to make Adirondack chairs. It chews through wood. Clean cuts pulls the wood to my router table. Huge difference between spiral bit and regular flush trim but. Highly recommend.

makes sandpaper smooth cuts
Not much to discuss on this one. Simply clamp a straight edge below your board and cut away. Make sure you only try to cut about 1/8 of material at a time. Also, don't use it without a guide piece. The bit is too long and will chatter without something to stabilize the tip.

Great bit, Run on slow RPM
Great bit, Run on slow RPM, Take your time, Do not try to cut a 1/4 at a time, Get your material as close as you can with a band saw or jigsaw. The closer the better cut. 5 Stars. No question

Excellent bit
This spiral up cut trimming bit cuts a lot better than a regular trim bit. Felt less grab on the wood. But then I find all Freud bits and blades work better

Great tool
Smooth cut! Buying more for certain.

disappointing
Bought this because spiral bits supposedly do not gouge the wood as easily and give a smoother cut , this did neither.
