Genius device!
While I agree with other reviewers that the set up buttons are small and the screen is hard to read, once the switch is set up it works perfectly. I wanted the lights to come on at dusk and off at 3 am. With my old switch, every month or so, I would need to adjust when the lights came on. With this new switch, the lights come on at dusk every day no matter the position of the sun or daylight savings time. I selected my latitude and adjusted the timer for dusk at my location and turned on the switch to recognize daylight savings time. I haven't had to touch the switch since. Not even when daylight savings time happened.

Simple programing and helpful directions
It was pretty easy to install; if you can change out a light switch you can install this. But it is bigger than a standard switch, so you have to cram it into the box. Programing is simple and intuitive -- but I still had to read the directions to get it right! It works great. I bought two. They both turn on at dusk - which adjusts with the length of the day. One turns off at dawn, the other at midnight. To manually turn on or off you just press the large button. Controls are hidden behind the large button.

They work!
I didn't understand the difference between single pole and multi-switch so once I got past that learning curve, getting programmable lights became a little easier. These are compatible with my multi-switch lights that are LEDs. As others have mentioned, the programming is a little challenging, but once you get past that, I can almost guarantee that you won't forget how to do it in the future. They are doing what I want them to do and I am happy.

Great for outdoor lighting!
My husband installed this to automatically turn on/off the garage sconces and front porch lights at dusk and dawn. It has been great for increased security especially for when we are traveling, to make it look like we are home. Would definitely recommend this product.

This is a review for GE SunSmart in-Wall Digital Timer, Daily ON/Off Times 32787
Purchased: 06 Apr 2022 Installed: 07 Apr 2022 Reviewed: 11 Apr 2022 It took me at least a year to purchase an astronomical light switch because I had to do an extensive research on various digital timers (several manufacturers). I've read many reviews online and finally took a plunge and purchased this GE SunSmart here on Amazon. I chose this and only purchased one so far to try it out. My intention is to purchase at least 6 of these to install in our house (mainly to control outdoor lighting). This is definitely a good-looking digital timer. The install was straightforward (PLEASE read the written instructions thoroughly because the online video instruction left out other important details). This GE SunSmart also came with 2 Neutral (white) jumper wires approximately 6" long. This was a PLUS because I actually had to use one of the neutral jumper wires. Once finished with wire connections, I encountered a major headache. The actual body of the GE SunSmart is a tad taller than the original single-pole switch I replaced. The metal electrical/gang box was installed in 1986. I tried various ways to make the digital timer fit inside the box. I finally was able to fit (somewhat, not perfect) the timer inside the box after using a "file" to slightly shave the metal of the box. It's definitely an extremely tight fit but I somehow managed to get it inside the box. I'm giving this GE SunSmart 32787 a 4-Star rating partly because the dimensions provided in the product description did not provide the actual height dimension of the digital timer's body. It just provided the total height of the entire unit. I didn't ask the Amazon Community about the dimension of this digital timer's body because I'm pretty sure, they will have to physically uninstall the timer to be able to measure it---that is just not going to happen. My persistence afforded me to find a solution to make this digital timer fit in the box (yes, it took several days, but it's done). The other issue I'm somewhat disappointed is that I had the impression that programming this digital timer to come on and off (dusk to dawn) was by inputing your GPS coordinates (latitude & longitude). Well, this was not simply the case. You had to choose from one of these options (NOR, CEN, SOU, ALASKA and HAWAII). Our timer is approximately 30 minutes late when lights come on after sunset. There's a way to add/modify this dusk-to-dawn setting but I opted not to bother because programming this digital timer is not very intuitive. It's probably because this GE SunSmart timer provides so many programming options. Based on my research, most astronomical digital timers suffer from unintuitive design. I was going to take a gamble on purchasing a different digital timer but decided to stick with the GE SunSmart because I was able to find a workaround solution with the "fit" issue. I also want to keep the same "switch" design for simplicity's sake.

Perfect for exterior Dusk to Dawn lights
For my application, my box already had the white neutral wire inside the box so the installation is really easy. Take out your old switch, plug in the provided white extension wire to your new plug and put the two black wires that were on the old switch onto the new programmable switch. Seriously that is all you need to do in the wiring department. Programming is really easy set the time and various other things and its done. Set the on off time for me it was only one program on at dusk off at dawn. For my application, this was perfect. When setting the sunrise sunset times, I adjusted mine 27 minutes before the actual sunrise and 27 minutes after the actual sunset; I looked it up on a sunrise-sunset.org to see what the true dusk time was and for my area its about 27+ and - minutes and set my sunrise sunset to first light and last light actual time. This gives me true dusk to dawn timer. If you notice in the description, it says you can move the sunrise sunset times by 2 hours and this gave me exactly what I wanted. This also gives the appearance of someone turning on the lights as they don't come on when it starts getting a tiny bit dark and vary day to day; unless your bugler knows what the last light of the day is he'll, never know it was a timer. They come on when its last light and car lights wont turn off my outdoor lights. They also go off before the day starts so they're never on during daylight unless I turned them on. There are no other systems I know of that can set the lights on off at dusk dawn, this is the only one I know that can do it. Not even my computer goes off dusk to dawn just sunrise sunset. This switch also has a glow but it only works when you touch a function and it only stays on a minute or so. It'd be nice if the back light stayed on all the time or a setting to make it stay on all the time. It probably doesn't stay on to keep it from wearing out the light source. Its really nice though you can hit the switch and it turns on the lights and hit it again and it turns them off. There are other timer function but the super simple on off is great. The switch did require some some squeezing to get into my box but it fit.

Easy to install
I had watched a couple of videos online on how to install a timer similar to this one, which helped guide my purchase. Shipping was fast. Using the instructions online and the diagram from the back of the box, I was able to quickly install this for my backyard garage light. Only tricky thing is finding the line and load wire, which can be assisted by using volt tester. Watched a couple of videos on how to program the light, as this was missing from the instructions that came with the timer. Not sure of the longevity, but overall seems like a good purchase.
