For Coolant and Electrolyte ONLY!
For some reason unknown by the manufacturer this is advertised as being able to check coolant and brake fluid. It is for Coolant and Battery Electrolyte only. The advertising is not the fault of the vendor - everyone of these I looked at said the same thing and the manufacturer stated, "They have no idea why it is being advertised as such". It works as advertised (except for the liquids it can test) and matched the readings of a couple of other refractometers. The vendor I got this from went out of his way to provide one as they had been backordered for awhile by the manufacturer.

item is not a brake fluid refracometer
This refractometer does not measure brake fluid. General Tools is the manufacturer and they could not explain why the refractometer is being sold as a brake fluid refractometer.

DOES NOT measure brake fluid. They do make one that does - REF416.
As has been mentioned, this unit DOES NOT measure brake fluid boiling point and moisture content. They do make one that does measure brake fluid - product number REF416.

Good refractometer.
Excellent. Small. Easy to read. Comparable to the one we use in the clinic. The flap opens nicely so there is no friction on the glass portion.
