great for kids learning
My kid absolutely loves the sound segmenting trays from Tara West. The phonemic awareness, science of reading manipulatives, and letter sounds activities make learning fun and engaging. My little one loves them and plays with them for hours! The trays are very well made and the bright colors make it super fun for her. Only thing was that i thought it came with the other accessories but it was only the trays so i had to get everything else separately, which is okay because it's totally worth it

Segmenting TRAYS
Trays only, I think the trays are great, durable and sturdy, but because it doesn’t come with any of the accessories (wands and letters) I am left trying to find letter rules that fit properly.

Only the trays
To be clear, this item only includes the 6 rainbow trays. None of the other items pictured in the item listing or on the front of the product box are included. It does currently say in small print on the listing that the manipulatives are not included. These trays are sturdy and stackable and have a good setup for practicing sound segmenting. I was able to use our snap together letter blocks to guide practice using these trays. We pick a word block and place it the top section, put a color block for however many sounds are in the word in the middle section, then work on the letter blocks in the bottom section. I like the suggestion for using dry erase marker on them, also. These would also be useful for math practice. For the original list price of $29.99 at the time of this review, this feels a bit steep for just the trays. I do think they are a very useful tool for emerging readers, though, and if they came with any of the other accessories shown in the images- letter magnets, image cards, magnetic disks, or even a dry erase pen- I think they would get much happier customers and higher ratings at this price point.

Includes TRAYS ONLY, no letters
I was disappointed with this because I thought it included everything in the product photos, but it only includes the trays. No letters, no pointer stick, JUST trays. I don't have letters that will comfortably fit in here so my daughter has just been using these as toy food trays and to separate/organize little toys she plays with. They've worked fine for bath play and dry play too, but they're really overpriced in my opinion.

Easy to use even for a homeschool mum but....
These trays are well constructed and even though it does not come with a set of letters, it wasn't a big deal because I have magnetic letters at home already that I can use with these. However, it would have been helpful if there is a instructional booklet or something that can help get the homeschooling mum started on using these trays to teach reading. Otherwise, these trays can also double up as painting trays or sorting trays for kids. There are quite many uses for these but again, would have love to have some sort of a starter guide or instructional booklet.

Manipulatives not included
It would be nice if at least one "Wand" were included with this really nice set of ???? rainbow colored hand2mind Little Minds at Work Sound Segmenting Trays by Tara West. The chips you need and even letter tiles can be made at home in a pinch, if you get this for homeschool like I did for my daughter, grandsons and son-in-law. For letter tiles you could use your magnets, or print letters on slips of paper or cardstock, or even print some with your printer. These strong plastic trays are designed for Phonemic Awareness, the science of Reading Manipulatives, to use as Elkonin Boxes, for Letter Sounds, and other Preschool Learning Activities . They show you how to use them one way in the listing. My 4 year old grandson will use these in other creative ways too I'm sure. Counting, sorting, etc .

Nice size and quality trays, accessories not included
These trays are really nice and are easy to clean. They're a great size for learning - bigger than I expected them to be, but not so big that they're cumbersome or take up too much space. They trays stack nicely and I love the colors. I do think that it takes a bit of creativity and work to make use of these trays at home. As someone who is not an educator, I will need to procure the parts that would go with these trays - letters, wands, etc. It is a bit overwhelming, but the trays are a nice starting point themselves and I have many ideas floating in my head after reading through the booklet that was included.

Cute & Practical
The media could not be loaded. These are cute segmenting trays that could be used with a wide range of students in a variety of ways. Pros: 1) They're colorful. 2) They have a slot that's just the right size to hold cards. 3) They have indentions that are large enough to hold letter, syllable, or morpheme cards, plus a longer space to put the cards together. 4) They should last a long time. 5) It's possible to use dry erase markers on them. 6) They're pretty original. I did a quick search for similar products and did not find anything. Cons: 1) Although these are "wipe-off" trays, some dry erase markers require a significant amount of elbow grease to erase from the trays--even ones that erase easily from the board. 2) For some reason, they put their logo, indented, in the middle of the long rectangle at the top. In my opinion, this is the best place to have students write, but their writing will be affected by the logo. It's also a little harder to erase the letters that are written across the logo. Overall, these are nifty tools that I definitely will use with my students in the future. My students are mostly middle and high school ages, but I think they will still like using the trays for their work on syllables and morphemes.

A bit overpriced
Made of a sturdy plastic, these trays look very durable and have vibrant colours. They can be used in different ways, and could be a great help for various set ups and lessons. They come with a guide on how they can be used and are placed in a nice box so if could make a nice gift. I have to agree with the other reviewers on the fact that’s pretty disappointing they don’t come with any other accessories as shown in the pictures. For the current price of £20 they seem pretty expensive for just a few plastic trays.

Trays only
I should have read the small print! This is for the trays only. They are brightly coloured and feel sturdy. Problem is I don't have anything else to be able to use them like letters etc. It's a great idea but a bit more for ideas etc would be useful on how to use.

Sturdy and useful trays
Nice set of multi-coloured trays that can be used for a variety of things. I'm currently using these to teach my 3-year-old nephew to count and recongise numbers. The trays look and feel sturdy and so far have survived several drops. Just so that you are aware you only get trays in this pack nothing else!
