Great deal on well made tights!
I was concerned about the fit so with some apprehension purchased a pair. About me: I'm 5'5" and roughly 111-112 lbs, and have generally thin legs but muscle tone in calves and thighs from a few years of regular triathlon training and racing. The XS fit snug as I expected a base layer to fit. These are short - end a bit above my ankles - and have a low rise, although I do not want a base layer that sits on or over the natural waist because my I wear my jeans and running tights a little lower. The photo shown with the product is about right for the rise - they might fit a bit higher on me - but is way off for the length - these are easily 1.5 to 2 inches shorter than suggested by the pic. I think these would border on too large for a very petite girl, unless she wanted a baggy baselayer (I do not). In my view, these fit like a typical XS. There is a pattern in the fabric and it sort of approximates long underwear weave in a way - but does not really look, or have the texture of the old fashioned 100% cotton 'waffle knit.' I would not wear these as a bottom instead of pants or tights with some substance, although I would wear them under a dress or skirt with boots. Unfortunately cannot comment on how warm these are yet, but I am rating 5 for quality, price and 'fits like I expected them to.'

The pants work great and are comfortable - but fair warning
The pants work great and are comfortable - but fair warning, they run snug. Especially near the ankles. Definitely go up a size, don't order based off your legging or pantyhose size as it will be impossible to hike them up all the way with that snug ankle hug at the bottom that keeps it from going up your calf (a good aspect to have when you're in the cold to keep out snow, but not so great at trying to squeeze into them). Also, I don't know how these would fair for taller people. I'm 5'3" and they fit me perfectly on length. I don't think you're supposed to wear them above the ankles but have no idea how it would fit someone who is say 5'9" even with small stretch around the waist and hips and thighs. Those ankles are really snug, vertical stretching is super tough!

Exactly What I Expected
These are awesome, especially at the sale price. They are exactly what I was expecting: a very nice pair of polypro pants. I'm 5'9" and they are just long enough for me. I would love another inch or two but these are a very standard length for pants. The medium fits me exactly as I expect a medium to fit. Because the waistband is designed to fit snuggly (so the pants stay up when wet), it does dig into my skin a little. Not a deal breaker and not uncomfortable, just ... what you would expect. If you are NOT expecting a pair of well-made polypro dry pants — if you're expecting leggings or yoga pants or I don't know what — you likely will be disappointed and confused by these pants.

Helly Hansen Women's Pant, Black, Large
I usually wear large tights in UA, Asics, Nike, Brooks, etc. So I order a large and they are baggy. This is unfortunate because this is supposed to be a base layer under my thermal running tights. They create a little extra bulk, which doesn't affect me on shorter runs. However, I will not be able to wear them on longer runs because of chasing concerns because of the extra bulk. On the plus side, these are very soft and comfortable. They come up high on the waste which is a plus for me because there is no wind creeping in around the back of my waste. These will also be nice to wear under jeans for walking in the cold. I would just suggest ordering a size smaller if you want to wear them for running.

Tights not pants
I do like these for the most part, but here's the thing: these are not pants. They are lightweight long underwear. Extremely comfortable, surprisingly warm, but not pants. This is what I think is going on with these reviews: two different products were shipped. The older ones were solid, stand alone pants and the newer ones are like long underwear. I've attached a couple of pictures so you can see the waffle-like material and how see-through it is. Technically, the box the "pants" come in say they're pants but nah- it's a baselayer pair of tights. Still made of polypropylene with Lifa though so that's great, 125 g/m^2. Not much stretch in the ankle cuffs or the waistband tho; the waistband is also oddly thin. No pockets. Size info: I'm 5'4", 140 lbs and I bought these in large. They do fit well but if I were 5 lbs heavier, I'd probably need an XL. Definitely size up for these.

No stretch - Order a size up!
I'm 5'4" 140lbs and i couldn't even get the medium up to my hips. There is no stretch whatsoever. Thankfully, the large fits me perfectly. Other than that confusion, I love these. They're mesh, so don't plan on wearing them alone unless you want to show off your new panties, but that means they're great at keeping me warm by wicking away sweat. I wear them under my hiking pants (also HH) on cool fall days. HH's sizing is quite inconsistent. I ordered an XS mens shirt and it fit perfectly, but I needed a women's L for the pants! (I promise I'm not shaped like a voluptuous pear).

Great pants, I'll order more!
I ordered these to wear on my runs in NYC, it's freezing and my legs kept getting cold. These are the perfect extra layer, so far I have only worn them as a base layer because it's been 28 with winds, but I'm sure once the temps go up to 35-40, I'll be perfectly comfortable wearing these on their own. I'm ordering a few more pairs to wear under jeans as well and my husband asked me to get him the men' s version as a base layer under clothes. Great product! ETA: sizing info, the pants fire true to size. I'm 5'5, 150lbs, athletic, with a big butt and thighs, 36-28-40, I bought this in size M and they fit perfectly, not to right, don't sag, don't ride up or down, perfect in every way!

warm and comfy
I have two pairs of these, one black and one pink. They both do their job without a lot of bells and whistles. They stay up on my fairly curvy body. They go all the way down to my ankles (and I need a 34" inseam). And they are nice and warm - no wind-blocking but they are generally worn under another pair of pants, so. The black pair is actually dark/opaque enough that you could probably get away with wearing them as leggings with a tunic if you really wanted to. I've worn them as pajama bottoms a few times and didn't feel embarassed walking to the bathroom from the tent. At the same time, they are definitely thin enough that you can wear them under normal (non-hiking) pants. I'm one of those people who is always cold and wore them several times under jeans this winter. The only kind of negative thing I could say is that the pink pair pilled a tiny bit after 5 or 6 washes but nothing terrible. One last thing is that the first time they go on you have to pull a bit to get them all the way up, but they loosen up immediately and then seem to just stay exactly the right size without getting baggy.

Fits well, pleasingly opaque
Bought for skiing, sailing and other outdoor activities. Haven't tested them yet, but pleased that they fit well (I'm a UK6-8, about 50kg, 5'4, and ordered XS). Sits comfortably at the waist, and they are not too long. Doesn't appear to be see through, though I haven't tested this in sunlit conditions. They are a bit tight around the ankles, but nothing too bothersome so far. Fingers crossed they will wear well!

best thermals ever!
Love these leggings. I knew I'd love them as I'd borrowed a friends before and found them excellent. The fit is spot on and unlike other thermals, they don't make you too hot if it's warm out, but keep you extremely snug when cold. Couldn't find them in my own country (New Zealand), so got them shipped from Amazon UK - postage was really reasonably priced and very quick. Even though I've found these leggings to be hard wearing, I am tempted to get another pair just in case they have stopped making these when mine eventually wears out!

EXCELLENT value!
EXCELLENT value!! Paid less than half price even though this size was medium (I'm normally a small) it fit fine for the purpose (sailing) I also wasn't keen on white but at less than half price.....and considering they're not seen....I was happy to buy them. They were not baggy, considering a larger size - I was very impressed. Highly recommend.
