HIC Kitchen’s Mortar and Pestle Set is the perfect tool to grind items into a fine paste or powder. Beautifully crafted from solid fine-quality Carrara marble, the natural stone gives each piece a unique color and marble pattern. The mortar bowl and pestle work together to quickly grind and break down ingredients and speed up food preparation with minimum effort. Grind fresh ingredients, like cloves of garlic, herbs and spices, peppercorns or cinnamon, nuts, grains, and seeds, into a fine paste or powder. Make aromatic dry rubs, curry pastes, pestos, nut butters, spreads, and so much more. Even use it as a pill crusher to pulverize harder-to-swallow pills! Essential tools for those practicing homeopathy, the art of healing through natural remedies, HIC’s Mortar and Pestle Set offers effortless preparation of herbal and homeopathic remedies. So easy to use. Simply place an item into the mortar bowl. Hold the pestle by the handle and, using a firm pressure, make a circular stirring-like motion to grind your item into a paste or powder. Harder items, like peppercorns, may need the surface cracked before they can be ground. Firmly, but gently, tap the item with the pestle, then grind into the desired consistency. Pestle and mortar are both made from solid Carrara marble to complement kitchen countertops and any home decor. Hand wash in warm, soapy water. Rinse and dry thoroughly. Extremely well-made marble mortar and pestle
I need to grind up some pills so I could dilute the powder with a filler in order to taper off a medication my mother was taking. This mortar and pestle didn’t take long to grind the pills into a fine powder. I also bought a microgram scale with which I could weigh the mixture of the med with the filler, using a mathematical formula to taper down the med. This is the most effective way of tapering because the person being tapered off doesn’t feel any withdrawal symptoms or side effects because of the mathematical formula used. It took three months, but my mother no longer needed it and it worked and it was worth the time.

Great for my daughter's pills
Great for my daughter's pills, to help with her arthritis. Grind them up and sprinkle in her food so she doesn't notice it and eats it all anyway. At 13 y/o she's getting into her golden years so this product definitely helps her.

Perfect size for grinding small quantities.
Perfect for grinding small quantities of herbs when you need just enough for your recipe.

Solid product and attractive.
Only downside is that the outside is polished stone giving a very nice look while the inside is honed or rough. This makes for extra effort on cleaning as mashing into that rough surface jams particles into the tiny crevices. Soaking helps. Would still buy again.

So much easier to grind up dogs medicine as she won't chew up her pills or take any other way!!
Will look great after use for pills on pur antique apothecary!

I've used it half a dozen times already and it's great!
Easy to clean(i just mash rock salt around in it and wipe it out), and the finish is nice! The first one came shattered, but they sent a replacement immediately and was here within 2 days! I have used this for crushing peppercorns, dried whole cloves, and even dried dandelion root and it can take a pounding. I assume my first one was dropped onto a cement floor or other hard surface to have arrived broken.

Tiny mortar
Nice but really small

Nice smaller size and nice design
Only the smaller size, which is exactly what I was after. Solid build and came in good condition. Definitely has a nice stylish look to it. Pretty good value! And it’s marble so it’ll last exactly like you’d expect.

not Carrara marble-- box says made in Taiwan
This is not made of Carrara marble. The packaging says it was made in Taiwan. Marble not white, grey and low quality.

Given as a gift
It is truly a beautiful, natural piece of kitchenware. Cleans up easy and you could use it as a defence tool in case of a burglar too. Very durable in both use senarios.

Only one Star because there is no Zero star option
I have a mortar and pestle of this style from another manufacturer and I liked it so well I wanted another one so I tried this. This one was totally unusable with a dangerously sharp edge on the pestle and an out of round, oversized pestle that wobbled in the hole of the mortar without reaching the bottom. This thing would hardly qualify as a paperweight. Someone is making C$#P and selling it to you with Amazon's name on it. Maybe some of them are usable, but from the looks of this thing you would have to regrind them to make them work. The outside finish is tolerable. The inside finish is raw ground with a deeper pit in the pestle where it was first drilled before turning and would allow unground items to sit below the pestle, if it actually did go into the mortar. The raw ground inside is not the problem and it should be a smooth ground, but not polished finish to help the grinding of items. They may say that this one may be an anomaly and they have never seen a bad one like this before, but from what I see, I wouldn't believe it and I will not be trying another one.

Great addition to my kitchen
I just got this mortar and pestle so I haven’t used it much. It worked great for making a paste from fresh ginger, garlic cloves and cumin seeds. It washed up beautifully. Very nice size.
