Smells awful!

While this is an attractive magazine rack and seems sturdy (with a lot of space) it also has a negative component that isn’t going away - it smells awful! I received it about a couple of weeks ago and have tried to let the odor dissipate in my garage, outside patio and not in the plastic bag/wrap it came in. As I write this review now it still stinks - like moldy grass and soil. If not for this problem I would keep it however after waiting this long without any improvements it’s going back, regrettably so. I guess that’s the reason why it’s (currently) less than 1/2 of the listed price! Even though it’s still not worth buying it given the smell issue (unless it’s placed in its own room!). Structure wise it’s good for storing magazines, papers and other items too. The 2 separate inside compartments and the handle that’s within the center of the 2 sides makes it even more useful. If someone doesn’t mind the unpleasant odor and decides to buy it anyway I would recommend that you measure the space where you want to place it since it is rather large and obtrusive looking. This definitely isn’t worth the listed price and the current price (on Amazon) is ,imo, still too high based on the smell issue!

Perfect for my room.

Very good quality and perfect for the room for which I bought it. The only unpleasant thing is the slight marshy odor, which only lasts for a few days. But that’s to be expected with sea grass…it smells like the seashore! Other than that, I am very pleased with my purchase.

Really Nice, but Smelly While New

This is a nice magazine basket. I like that it has two sections. I've divided my magazines into two categories, one in each section. It's a perfect match for my recliner. Only one fault is that it's a bit stinky. It's made of some kind of grass and took about 6 weeks for that smell to fade.

Pretty basket with an unpleasant odor.

This is an attractive basket but it has an unpleasant odor. You would think that woven sea grass would have a nice smell but this sea grass doesn’t. I’m keeping it outside, out of the sun for a few days and hope it makes a difference.

Pricey but worth it

Cost more than I would have ever considered paying for an item like this, but am pleased nonetheless as it is absolutely perfect and checks all my boxes for what I was looking for.

We were looking for something to use in our TV room to keep magazines and similar items by our chairs for easy access. This item was perfect. It is very sturdy, and the divider in the middle is great for keeping the contents upright and separated. Some reviews mentioned an odor, but that wasn't a problem in our case. There was a slight rope-like smell when we first opened the package, but it dissipated quickly and there has not been any noticeable odor since.
