Not for Distillers but Will Work With Simple Modification
Purchased filters for my PureWater brand water distiller. Unfortunately, after a week or so the filter started plugging up and not allowing water to flow freely through it. Finally after noticing the issue and the filter flow being further restricted, I took the filter and cut it open to see what was causing the problem. The issue is with the filter paper they have both ends of the filter that block off the charcoal. The filter paper is fairly thick and it seems that the dust particles from the charcoal plug up the filter paper fairly rapidly. In systems where there is adequate water pressure of 40 lb or higher, the filter probably still operates effectively. However, for systems that are low pressure and possibly gravity fed like water distillers, these filters will not work very long unless they are modified. To make them work for my application, I took a sterilized exacto blade and inserted it through the end openings and was able to cut about 6 or 8 slits in the filter paper on each end of the filter. That seemed to do the trick and now the filter works fine for my application. Modifying and cutting the filters takes a minute or two. So, if you're buying these for a water distiller or low pressure application then make the modification. The filters are good and they are the least expensive you can find. Prior to trying these filters, I purchased filters double the cost that used to work but all of a sudden started to have this same plugging or constriction issue and so I bought these filters thinking that maybe the problem was something linked to that prior brand. Now we know. These filters will work for you with this little modification if you are buying them for a water distiller.
