Tag is not removable. Good hat otherwise. Sea photo

Try to remove the tag very carefully just by ripping it first. After ripping it there was a white line there. The inside of the tag. Cut the first stitch. The paper was still inside. Cut the second stitch. And then the hat came apart. As you can see. It does not say on the icebreaker website or here how to remove the tag. Edit: had the Tailor saw it back for 6$. Suggestion: go to the Tailor to remove the tag in the first place. Otherwise great hat. I tried on 3 smart wool hats before settling on this one.

Perfect for soft warm Merino hat liner under scratchy hats

This is two layers, each a thin 100% Merino knit, so reversible. I bought it to wear under a single-layer, heavier knit (rib knit) 100% Merino hat that has only one layer and has a wide brim. I will be warm on the coldest days here in Chicago land. It came today - I ordered yesterday - and my husband saw it and asked me to order one for him. He has several good regular (not Merino) wool hats that make him itch and he gets bumps on his forehead. He will wear this Merino Icebreaker under his regular wool hats and will finally get some use out of his wool hats.

Great biking beanie for around/below freezing

This has been the perfect hat to wear under my helmet in winter. I had been struggling to find a beanie that didn't result in my head being soaked after a 30 minute ride. I use it between 15 and 35 degrees which is standard winter temperature where I am. I tend to run very hot so for many people I would add 10 degrees to that range. Very thin and surprisingly warm but quite breathable so once you get up to speed your head stays a pretty good temperature with a very slight breeze blowing through it. The fit is perfect for me. I have a relatively large head, on the lower end of requiring extra-large helmits. If you have a very large head I don't think this would stretch to accommodate you. It goes far enough down the sides of my head to just barely completely cover my ears. I didn't have any problem removing the tag to make it reversable. The tag easily ripped off the stitching with no damage. I can see why cutting the stitches could be risky because it is sewn on at the seam using the same color thread (if not the exact same stitch) as the seam itself. I believe the manufacturer said somewhere on this page that you could cut the stitches but I really think they should make the stitches for the tag a different color than the stitches for the seam. Doing so would make it clear what you needed to cut to remove the tag.

Such a useful, comfy hat that fits in a handbag

Comfy, warm but not too hot, fits well and over ears. Fits any normal adult head, male or female. And it is so easy to carry in a pocket or tiny bag that I can carry it with me all the time, so it provides a very lightweight way to add some warmth when not carrying a jacket or fleece. It may seem strange that I am reviewing a woollen hat on the hottest day of the year (30 degrees C outside) but I have had one of these all winter and recently bought another one for someone else.

"Can be worn in two ways" is a lie. Only green side is usable.

The black side is apparently seen as the inside. You can try to turn it around, but then you have to live with having all the signs that are sewn inside show. You can try to rip them off but they are actually sewn in and there will be a bright white part remaining after removal. It can only be worn in one way and unfortunately, that is not the one I was interested in. I was looking for black or dark blue not for an (ugly) green. TL;DR Only the green side is usable. The dark side is unusable.

Klein und warm

Tolle Mütze. Aufgrund der Merinowolle, trotz des dünnen Materials gut warm. Auch bei Minus Temperaturen. Auch unauffällig einzupacken und nimmt wenig Platz weg. Würde ich wieder kaufen.

Super Mütze, nicht zu dünn, nicht zu dick! Ohne diesen verdickten Rand, den viele Mützen haben. Beidseitig verwendbar und das Material ist auch wunderbar, weich, elastisch und ein klein wenig glänzend. Kratzt auch nicht.
