Work well, but paint wore off in 2 months
These are a nice shape and look great on your old fashioned wooden screen door, but the paint started to come off after only 2 months. I was expecting a little better. They weren’t inexpensive.

Period-correct and functional
After a wind event tore the storm door of of its 102 year old hinges, I went looking for replacements. These are nearly identical to the originals and have, so far anyway, held up to an Iowan spring. Heed the other warnings however. The included brass screws are LESS THAN USELESS. Even with a properly pre-drilled hole the head snapped off at the slightest application of torque the first time I tried to use one. I spent longer extracting the remnants of that misadventure than I did installing the hinges and hanging the door.

Attractive and solid
I managed to snag an Amazon warehouse used “very good” set of these for $20. I give them five stars at that price. They are unusually attractive as hinges go - adds a little charm to an otherwise purely functional thing like a screen door. They also seem well-made and sturdy. As others have noted, the product description for this item (visible springs) and the IDH adjustable hinges (spring is covered) are swapped. This item with the visible spring is NOT adjustable. It’s about right tension for a screen door, though. Quite firm but not dangerous or annoying. Makes for a decisive thwack! shut. Also as others have noted, the screws that come with these are unusable garbage. I thought if I was very very careful I could make them work but nope - head came right off the first one I tried. Just throw them away immediately and find your own #6 1” or so screws.

Expensive but good
Edit: After only a few months of very light use, the paint on the springs is chipping off. The hinges still work great, but cosmetically look quite poor. The door has probably been opened less than 10 times. I changed the rating to 2/5 as they’re quite expensive and I expected them to last a few years before looking worn. Original review: This is much more solid than the cheap stamped metal ones out there. The spring feels substantial, does not squeak. Wish it was sold in packs of 3, but I only used 2 and the door seems to be held on well enough. Expensive, but I didn't see any other options out there besides the cheap ones which broke on me the first day I put them on. Expensive, but if I don't have to replace them for 10 years (guessing), it's not much in the long run.

Hinge is great. DON'T USE THE SCREWS.
Hinges look terrific, feel heavy-duty, and work well. The included screws are ridiculous. Three heads broke off during instillation on one hinge. We had to drill them out, putty and repaint, and reinstall using better screws. So much wasted time and energy.

Finest hinges I've had the privilege to install
They're expensive, so you'll have to decide for yourself if they're worth it. I'm not disappointed in the quality for the price, but what was more important to me was that they were the only hinge that would do the job that I needed done. You can see from the photo (this is the lower hinge in the photo) that this was not a typical, simple installation. I'll leave it to your imagination to figure out how I managed to compress the very strong springs to get them installed as shown.

Nice hinges
I like these hinges. There isn't a super strong snap to the spring, which I like. The paint on the actual spring will scratch off even with your fingernail. Not a biggie, I still love these.
