French Gold is the same as polished brass
The product looks great; however, didn't work for me since the color doesn't match that of our faucet and cabinet hardware. I wasn't able to tell from the description photos that this was polished, so I figured I'd post a picture to help others. It also didn't arrive with the locking collar. Other than the color discrepancy, this product looks great and is well priced.

The white wrap is peeling off after 1 year
I did not realize that this was a wrap over a chrome garbage disposal flange. After just over one year, the white wrap is peeling off. I thought this was white all the way throughout and did not realize that there was a sticker over the top to make it that color. Very disappointed

End results... This product is not made for someone that use their sink. It's only for a display sink, no water usage...

It works, but the color is cheezy.
I have this item in conjunction with it's stopper. They both work very well, and the stopper holds water wonderfully. In fact, the more water you put in the sink, the better it works under the pressure. It's a nice sturdy product, and I'm sure itll last 20 years. I am rather disappointed in the color though. This is NOT oil rubbed bronze. A real oil rubbed bronze looks like exactly that! Like someone took a rag, and wiped black oil on a piece of bronze... you should be able to see some of the bronze highlights showing through. This item is powder coated dark brown. It looks nothing like bronze at all. It's more like dark chocolate. I have my entire kitchen outfitted with Oil Rubbed Bronze metal, and this thing sticks out like a sore thumb. Normally, I wouldn't blame the manufacturer on this, since they all have different ideas of what Oil Rubbed Bronze looks like, but come on, Candy bar brown??? You Insinkerator guys make bulletproof disposals, but on this you could have done better. UPDATE! Since my previous comments, I have noticed the color chipping off this unit little by little. In no time, it will no doubt rust and become useless. I intend to replace this thing ASAP with something of better quality. I am highly disappointed that in less than 2 years the color coating is failing. This is obviously NOT powdercoated as I originally thought.

disappointed paint/finish on flange chipped off in a year! other than that - ok. i should've used the stainless steel flange included with disposal. maybe this will help someone....

This is straight up brass
The picture made this look like a slightly brushed gold which is what French gold usually is but it's brass. Very shiny so if that's not the look you want, might want to go with a different color. It works fine though. We originally got a Karran sink black cover for the flange to match our black sink but after a few month it STUNK. Like rotting animal. That was fun. The hubby did have to install the flange twice but I think because we ran water too soon afterward. He did nothing different other than reinstalling it before bed and let the plumbers putty sit there with no water on it for 8 hours and it was fine.

Another one that chips
You would think for the price this would be powder coated. Complete waste of money as it chipped within 6 months. I haven’t been able to find a paint option to cover it since it’s not easily replaceable. So disappointing but a lesson to read reviews

Finish coming off
It looks great with the black granite sink. However, in less than 3 months the black paint began chipping off at the junction with the rubber flange. It makes me think this product could be a cheap counterfeit rather than genuine Insinkerator. Recommend buying this product from an actual plumbing store to guarantee you get the genuine article.

Not very well made
I bought the item to replace a stainless steel one I had previously, when I changed my sinks and work top. It looked great when the plumber had fitted it to my smaller sink but only 3 weeks later the black coating has started to chip and flake off. It has hardly had any use and has not suffered any impacts. I wish I had kept the stainless steel one!!
